Womanly-sized riders, unite!
Hey, my belt from VTO Saddlery arrived today - I love it! Thanks for the link a page or two back!
Glad it worked out for you! Neat store.

Had no idea that is the regular price, it has the list price and then SALE $99. In red. That’s all it took!

I just went to the website and it comes up with 107 and change for me, so I will have to go back to my catalog to see if there’s something magic I have to do to get them for $99. I was in the same frame of mind as Coreene – “SALE $99” got me. Sad, but true…now if Dover only had the cool bright flowered Kerrits Ventilator shirts I’d be running up a mondo order too!

For the full seats, the code is 9C-35024A, and for the knee patch, the cose is 9C-35023A. If you buy a pair, you get a free tshirt, but I had to order it via phone because it kept trying to charge me for the shirt.

Spleders, check ebay regularly for those cool flowered Kerrits shirts. I got one a couple of weeks ago for $26. It’s the bright pink one, but they also had the green one, too.

Hmmm. Maybe the sale expired right after you bought? 'Cause I still see the full seats at $107.90 and the knee patches at $84.90 (which comes to niniety-something with shipping, so maybe that’s what I thought you meant originally…).

I already have one pair of each, though. Plus three other pairs of breeches, two pairs of winter-weight tights, etc, etc. I do not need any more breeches, truly. It’s just so darn exciting when I find ones in my size, and doubly exciting when they’re on sale…

 Guilty.

Does anyone know how Tailored Sportsmans REALLY fit? They go up to 36. And they have all those YUMMY colours in the new Dover catalogue.

I don’t mind paying a lot once, if they will hold up for four or five years of almost daily abuse. I do it for boots now because I realize it’s cheaper in the long run–I was buying $50-60 boots every year, sometimes twice a year, now I drop closer to a buck on them, but they last two or three or more years.

At any rate, I know Ariat is a huge fake tease breeches-wise. They run so small a 36 doesn’t even make it up my leg, not to mention over the hips. :dead: Wondering if TS is the same?

I guess TS always makes me think “stick-girl hunter”, as unfair as that may be, so I’ve never even considered them.
See U at X – I’ll check Ebay - -thanks for the tip!! I have the Stone Flower and now covet the red, green and just a plain white one, but $39/ea is too much $ for me!
Criss – I aspire to your Iridean wardrobe. I LOVE the winter wind-blocker ones w/knee patch and would happily ride in them all year if I didn’t think they’d make me faint in the summer.
Correen - thanks for the “phone in” tip. I was getting quite annoyed with the website…as a software testing geek, stuff like that makes me NUTS.

LOVE this thread…oh - pintopiaffe, you must have thinner calves than me to only have to spend “a buck” on boots. I have mondo-calves - which I blame on 4 years of marching band!! yeah…that’s it…

Coreene, if you’d like an excuse to spend another $402, you may adopt me.

My Body Chemistre tights are holding up beautifully! I have two pair ($10 on super clearance at SLT) that I got months ago and I just rotate between the two.

I’ve lost 10 pounds now…maybe I can get in 36 soon! That gives me a couple more options than 38.

I’m sitting here looking at the current sales catalog and the email confirmation of my order, and I paid $99.90 for the full seats. That is the same price listed in the sales catalog, which says prices are good through August 31, 2007.

I also have the page open online, and it says - in red - “Dover’s price: $99.90.

Gremlins! So I’d call instead. And be sure to get your free t-shirt.

I wish that was tall boots… no, talking paddies there. I try to hold out for sales/clearance/ebay etc., but have finally conceded SOME of the more expensive boots are actually more economical in the long run. (hint–I get MENS Ariat paddies–they are far thicker and last years longer than the women’s.)

So no one’s actually tried TS? They are supposed to be ‘relaxed fit.’

I guess that’s ok. I’m in between at the moment. Wore my old shapeley’s yesterday and was pulling them up all day (yay! but booo that I need new ones) but not into normal sizes yet.

I still don’t have tall boots for schooling. Have Effies for show. Dunno what I’m going to do. The Mtn Horses are getting me through because it’s summer and a little air conditioning is acceptable. :uhoh:

I have been on a hunt for some full seat breeches for months now - talk about a humiliating experience!

Last September, I decided to do a few local schooling shows after a hiatus of 6 years and of course my old breeches were just a smidgeon too small, so off I went to my local tack shop and found a nice pair of Tailored Sportsman’s that fit really well. Now these were just the knee patch ones, but I was pretty pleased that they covered up alot of bumps and lumps on this 60 year old body.

I weigh 140 pounds, but I think that most of that weight is carried in my hips (41")and calves (16")! I’ve read alot of this thread and while I don’t have problems getting things to fit on my top half and I can really sympathize with all of you who are at their wits end trying to find riding clothes that fit.

After having success with the TS breeches, I didn’t think I’d have too many problems finding some full seats to buy this year. HA! During my last trip to the tack shop, I’m sure I tried on about every pair of full seats they had on their racks. Yeah, I found a pair of Irideon black full seats that fit fairly well, but I have yet to have a white pair of full seats look anything but hideous on me! I tried on Pikeur, FITS, Kerrits, Irideon…they all made me want to cry. The person who decided that dressage riders should wear white breeches should be shot!

Anyway, to get back to the Tailored Sportsmans…I honestly don’t remember which model of breech I bought, but they cost a little over $100.00 if I remember correctly, they weren’t the stretchy fabric that make my legs feel like sausages, but more of a cottony fabric and they’re slightly low rise. The size I got was a 30R, so I think the sizing is pretty true (unlike alot of other manufacturers!!!) And they sure do seem to have more of a relaxed fit about them…even in the calves. I just wish they made a full seat breech!

I needed a polo for a hunter pace and ended up with a super-flatteringly-cut one from Target. It’s the “Ultimate Polo” and it’s a relaxed fit and slightly fitted through the waist and three people asked if I’d lost weight on Saturday (in a white polo shirt and beige breeches…). On sale in many nice colors for $7.99 up to a generous ladies XXL, and the right length to tuck in or leace out and not look shlubby. Can’t beat that for clinics and lessons. Went back and got another white one for cubbing and colors (well, black and sage) for other times.

the polos are nice!! I vote yes!! I saw them, although I do not actually own one, I did try them on. They are nice, and as flattering as Citydog said.

Just a note about plus calf tall boots, There’s a nice pair on Ebay today. Since the rules on no sales ads say I can’t tell you what size, I’ll just say they are womanly.

Hispar rant!

So, I ordered the Hispar field boots, and there is no way in hell I can get them on in X-wide despite having measured carefully and looked at their chart before choosing a size. I wanted to exchange for the XX-wide, emailed them repeatedly to ask about an exchange, and…nada. Never a response. After two weeks, left them neg. feedback, still no comment from them (though I’d happily retract the feedback if they’d just let me exchange the damn boots!).

Oh, and I bought my fiance a pair too, because even though he has pretty skinny legs, I just couldn’t find anything with a zipper (which he really wanted) reasonably priced for men. The zipper on his split literally the first time he wore them, while he was wearing them around the house to break in, within maybe half an hour. Not that that has anything to do w/ womanly-sized riders.

Can I just say, :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Lovely Large Ladies Read On!

Hello everyone,

A friend told me about this forum and as soon as I saw the discussion thread I just had to sign up!
There is a new company in th eUK called Fuller Fillies Limited; they are fairly new but they are FABULOUS!!!
Their collection, which is for showing AND Hacking/Leisure, starts at a UK size 16 and goes to a 24 (JOD SIZE 30" WHICH FITS A 34" WAIST TO 38" WHICH FITS 44" WAIST AND TO FIT CHEST 40"-48")
The Designer/MD is very high profile here and is everywhere trying to change the industry approach to sizing - I say sod it, you go for world domination girl!
The fit is perfect - they do half chaps in two lengths 14/15" and 16/17" and they go up to - wait for it - 20 inches plus!!!
It gets even better because their prices are very middle of the road too.
They don’t sell direct but, if you go to the website (not sure if I’m allowed to say but Google Fuller Fillies and it will take you there) and on to the stockist page and look up their internet retailers - the top one will dispatch all over the world and also sells other larger brands.

Today is the day you get the clothes you deserve girls - just whatch out though- I’m nearly bankrupt cos I want everything!

Suzx

Wow, Suzannew, thanks for that heads up!! I am going to look now!! Welcome to COTH! and please feel free to share any other great info, or links!

Thank you Suz, and welcome! I think that’s two members who joined because of this thread! Great job, ladies!

Instead of using the zippers, use boot pulls and lay on your back with your legs in the air. I do not use the zips on mine.

Edited to say you could, say, use this as a multi-tasking opportunity.

Criss–that is awful about your and your fiance’s boots. What a rip-off! I hope Hispar will eventually reply and fix the problem.

Suzannew–Welcome! I’m one of the ones who joined COTH because of this wonderful thread, and I’m proud to have it in my signature line!

Please post us a link to the Fuller Fillies website!

(I love your forum name, by the way.)
