Womanly-sized riders, unite!

I googled boinks, and the first hit…well, not what I was looking for!
Sorry! :o

If you go to the website, 3HN so kindly posted ( http://www.boinkcatalog.com )then under “Adult Bargain Barn” the closeout 4x’s are there on the 2nd page. I am sort of thinking of buying a pair and having them taken in. Do you think they are tailorable? :sigh:

I’m very frustrated where I am. Street clothes have now become easy and cheapish to purchase. Riding clothes, IMPOSSIBLE. Ug. Grr.

pp – If you’re wearing a size 16 in jeans, I gotta think there’d be an awful lot of extra fabric in those 4X Boinks…Almost enough for two pairs of Boinks for you!

Keswick Harry Hall- Tack of the Day

I got a pair of the Harry Hall Keswick britches at my local tack store and the 38’s fit me. I usually wear a 40 and am a 18/20 in jeans sizes. The other way cool thing about these britches is that the the patch goes all the way to the ankle. So no need for half chaps or high boots, although you could. These are at a great price!

How do the HH’s fit CURVES???

The only breeks that fit me now are shapely’s… the others I end up with all sorts of extra material in waist or crotch in order to fit hips & thighs…

I am hopeful–but not quite ready to drop the $$ (well, maybe I will on the beige anyway, I need show breeks, and I DON’T wear white.)

What is the Web address for TOTD?

Well, I’m kinda curvy and they fit me OK. To give you an idea of my body type, here’s a picture of me with my horse a few weeks ago:

I like the pair I have, but I think I got a size too big and the rise is longer than I would really prefer.

 thanks. What a GREAT HORSE!!! And I love your smile.

I think I’m quite a bit ‘hippier’ than you though… hm. I guess I can always Ebay if they don’t fit? The beige are just a great, great deal for HH’s.

Thank you!!! You’re very kind. She was SUCH a good girl that day is really learning and actually loving her job. I have to brag on her a moment, because it’s been a long road for us - lots of injuries and minimal professional training, except maybe a year and a half worth of lessons here and there as I could afford them. We’re still a long way from where I hope we’ll eventually be, but it’s been an amazing journey for both of us. Quite simply, I adore that horse.

As for the breeches, I would go ahead and try them. You’re right in that you can always sell them on ebay and it IS a great deal. IIRC, mine are pretty stretchy and I have plenty of room in the hips. If you get them, let us know how you like them!

Half-Chaps a Success

I wanted to thank everyone here for the helpful suggestions and recommendations for half-chaps. I finally got to wear them today for the first time and they worked great! Breeches & half-chaps are so much more comfortable than just the riding tights. I’m very happy to have this solution.

Hour-Glass that blossomed seeking Full-Seat Advice

Howdy there.

I’m seeking advice from curvaceous ladies that know all the secrets of full-seat breeches. (Full-seats don’t offer as much stretch as their knee-patch counter parts, in my experience).

I’m the classic hour-glass that has ummmm… blossomed.
I’ve got a relatively small waist compared to my hips, and my upper thighs are chunky. I have large width calfs that are muscular.

The Royal Highness line, no matter what size or style, looks horrid on me. The waist is too low, they give me camel toe, and my upper thighs frighten small children.

I have a couple of pair of Equi-Comforts that meet minimum acceptability in size 34 R & L, but I was hoping to branch out to some other brands.

I tried some of the tights, either Kerrits or Irideons, and, although they technically fit, it was not a look that could be called flattering; I was the bulge-meister on body parts that usually aren’t all that bulgy.

The On-Course Fuller Figure Line also seemed like a good bet, but they let my thighs spread out to their fullest capacity rather than containing them in this zip code. <grin>

So, I was wondering if any of you ladies are in the size 12 - 14 range and have managed to find some full seat breeches that I can shove my thighs into without fear of splitting the butt seams because my upper thigh cannot be contained?

Also, not seeing every lump and bump on the backs of my thighs through thin fabric would seem a miracle.

I love this thread and look forward to entering the zone of irresponsibility with abandon!!!

Much thanks!

Excellent question! I await the response and have nothing to add except I only ride in winterish pants for the same reasons! Im right between 14-16, L are a bit restrictive, and xl’s a bit to roomy. All are too long. Why do some pants give you cottage cheese thighs when IRL, they dont look like that?

Love, love, love the Keswick Harry Halls!

I finally rode in these today and they are my new favorite pant to ride in! I’m a plump and curvy 5’6 and got the longs as I wanted to make sure they went all the way to the ankle. Best decision ever! The fullseat patch goes all the way down to the ankle and tucked into my paddock boots perfectly, no ride ups or funny lumps. They felt comfortable without being too tight and I felt really secure on my horse without being stuck to the saddle. The waistband actully comes up to my waist and there was very little pulling down at the back waistband. I’m glad I got the longs and have a feeling I wouldn’t be as happy with them if I hadn’t. The material is sturdy and doesn’t show all the lumps or bulges, I just hope they hold up to hard wear and tear. I ordered another pair.

TuffRider Figurefit. They have just enough cement in them to keep your ass and thighs from traveling to far-off destinations. I do like the Shapely breeches from On Course, I think they are divine, but yes they do let the thighs travel a bit.

My favorites looks-wise are these:

http://www.adamshorsesupply.com/browse.cfm/4,756.html

but I haven’t got a pair of the Kerrits, which I’ve also been wanting to try.

I don’t particularly adore cotton breeches, I like something with some give and a texture. So, the sport riders are nice- they are also very comfy!

Well, I had bought a pair of the Arete Classic Half Chaps (http://www.aretesaddlery.com/tack/apparel/chaps/classic-half-chaps-black-plus-sizes/prod_223.html) in the 3X size because of my large/shapely calves  However, I found that they run big, sooooo I gave them to someone who found they fit her perfectly. Her lucky day

I would like to go with a more tall-boot look this go 'round, so was wondering if anyone had the Iberian II 1/2 chaps from Arete and could tell me if these, too, run big. If so, I’ll come down a size.

http://www.aretesaddlery.com/tack/apparel/chaps/iberian-ii-plus-sizes/prod_218.html

Thanks!

P.S… Although I’ll never be svelte, I am trying my darndest to lose some of da fluff… down 4 pounds and an inch

I have these and love them. I tried the 3x and they were a little bit too snug for me. So, I went with the 4x and they are a little loose - they kinda twist a little bit on me. I would recommend going down a size. They may be snug at first, but will form to fit your leg as you break them in. If they are too big at all they will do the twist thing and its kind of annoying.

GREAT chaps, though. Love them!

Oh that’s good to hear! Thanks NL!!!

I have the Iberians, and I don’t think they run large. I have size L (I can’t even express how nice it was not to have to order XL, LOL!) and my calf measurements were toward the upper end of those, but they fit fine.

I do find that most half chaps are not narrow enough in the ankle… like shapely calves means fat ankles or something. I think the Iberian II is supposed to be more fitted.

They are very nice, by the way
