Womanly-sized riders, unite!

Dunno. I’m tall, so I get talls and then the waistband winds up just under my boobs.

Thanks, ThreeHorseNight and Equusrocks! I feel better.

I am dying to try the breeches at Arete Equestrain. I know they will fit great since the half chaps fit so great. I have the worst of all combos for breeches. Tall and big. So, they are tight and short :lol::lol:

What!!! I am the thread person. Nope, I am not huge, but I am bigger than your average stick model! I am 5’9 and 168 pounds. So no, not huge, but not slender either. Truth be told I am a pretty large girl… large frame, and a little extra padding in all the right places (ok, and some of the wrong places).

I agree with you - I about threw up when I read the posts on that thread (that I started) about the girls that are a size 5 and size 7 and size 6/8 that just couldn’t find breeches… I mean really - those weren’t the body types I was concerned with being able to find breeches!

If you told us what size you were looking for my response would be the same! No matter what size breeches you are looking for - I believe in the fundamental right to NOT have to wear pink lycra spandex riding tights.

I belive we all have the right to a nice tan pair of breeches! No matter the size!!!

I have gained twenty pounds in the last six months, I think we all long for our former selves… (Now, at 168 pounds, I regret all those times at 147 pounds that I thought I looked fat!).

Yes! The butt in the front look! I looked at my show pictures, and it looks like I have two butts!!! I would make the perfect guy - I already have the beer belly!

Please report back on all the breeches!!! I must be your twin, and I would love to know how they work out!!!

Just ignore it. Some days she eats only a peach and a piece of cheese. Her own words. Not that there’s anything wrong with that at all either, but Twinkle I totally agree. The thread isn’t about diet tips.

So is it me or are the Shapelys really longwaisted?
Wow, Coreene, you either have a good memory or actually bothered to look that up in the archives. If it’s the former, I’m impressed. If it’s the latter, I’m flattered (and a little wierded out) that you went to the trouble. But I think it was a pear and a piece of cheese, not a peach.

Anyway, my apologies for barging in on this one. There’s nothing like being home sick with a very nasty cold (going on week 2) to make me read COTH threads that I skim past when well (I mean, this one has been around for a while and I only looked yesterday.)

Wow, that sucks - pasta is GOOD!!! Now being a little larger doesn’t feel so bad!! But I still want beige breeches that fit!

You could always PM some of us if you don’t want to post your size. I sure don’t want to post mine, but I did order a pair of those $19.99 Boink tights. Got them the other day but haven’t tried them on yet.

For some reason I haven’t had too many problems getting breeches that fit. I’m long legged, but short waisted. I do have my favorite pairs but none that are really uncomfortable. Just say NO to side zips though! Good thing they were on clearance and super cheap. I will never, ever wear those in public!

Oh Murphy’s Mom… I LOVE side zip breeches. I think they are wayyy more flattering than front zips… for me anyways. Everyones different. Regardless though…I could never ever ever show in front zip breeches. They look to casual to me… I save them for schooling.

Naters… I will let you know about the breeches. There are some others I’m going to try too if none of these three work out. I have to order a few at a time though or hubby would have a heart attack.

Here is the hunt coat I got. I got it in 18 which is the biggest it comes in. The main problem with finding jackets is my bust & back. I’m a 40 D.

These are the White Thunder shirts… there are always different colours listed and when I got mine they sent me a prinout with like 30 different colours available on it… so I’m sure you could request whatever you wanted too. I got the XL size and they fit very well. The workmanship on them is very nice… the quality of the material is light weight… not fabulous. But I was very happy with them for the price.

I’m hoping to get my boots back from the shoe/boot repair person sometime in January… there is a show in february and I’d like to get used to riding in them for a while first and get them nicely broken in.

Biggest problem I have with coats is the arms…my biceps measure about 15", so even if it fit in the bust (44"), my arms don’t always fit. :frowning:

These are the best breeches I have ever found - they are more expensive but they last - I was going through breeches in 6 months, since I found these I have had them for 3 years. You can e-mail the company asking them if they have any close-outs. She can also custom make the breeches. Believe me, these breeches are worth it!

Really? Because yesterday you seemingly just had to contribute, with “I have followed this thread for a while and held my tongue for that long before contributing.” Interesting. Either way, it did come off as mean spirited and bitchy, since all of the adults on this thread - which is about clothes and boots - didn’t seem to be asking for diet and/or lifestyle advice.

As for the fruit and cheese comment, yes I did remember it from ages ago.

Coreene, following the thread “for a while” referred to the length of time I spent reading it, not the length of time I’ve been following it. I apologize again if I came off as meanspirited and bitchy.

Ditto!

Thanks, ThreeHorseNight and Equusrocks! I feel better. :)
But I aim to change that!

For those needing customized boots, I had supper success with Kroop Boots in Laurel, MD. You can just google them- they start out at $400something but I had lots of extras done and wound up around $700

I second the boinks…Pet Smart had them on sale a year ago at super prices…ElizabethG is at Dressage at Devon, they supposedly make super stuff as well (I have not ordered from them yet)

On the subject of new boots

In the spirit of humility and contrition, I want to contribute a helpful hint that worked wonders when I bought new boots last year. They are really very easy to slip on if you wrap your foot and leg in a thin plastic bag. I was amazed.

Excellent tip! And so much better than, say, that Boot Slip On spray.

I found that the Zocks help with that, too! That is, if they fit you. They JUST fit around my calf with breeches on, but fit they do!
