Word to the Wise: Lesson Reminder for Everyone

Are you saying BTDT is illiterate? Isn’t she a teacher, or am I confusing her with someone else?

i can only go by what has been posted here and hope you are joking

what is this constant reference to Viva Zapata’s??? Some kind of code?

This is making you seem stranger then OP, PonyOwner…if you are in fact really the owner, which I seriously doubt.
Not a code. It is a restaurant in Vegas that is very good. Posted for the benefit of myself and others from COTH who are in town for the World Cup. A good place to eat for not much money.

So if I answer those questions will I too be vilified? If so, forget it. This whole thread is lose/lose at this point.
I solemnly swear to not vilify any person who knows the truth about the guac. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing your Chipotle knowledge here, I understand. Do feel free to PM me, though.

LOL

I do not believe “Pony Owner” is the actual pony owner in the underlying transaction. It’s someone trolling/thinking they’re being funny. That person has picked up dribs and drabs about the actual PO (she’s foreign, she’s at the WC right now) and is trying to work those into her responses to seem more like she’s the actual PO. In doing so she seems to have introduced some not-verified/made up details that other posters are now accepting as true out of confusion. To the extent that anyone cared about understanding what REALLY happened, I would not rely on what “Pony Owner” is posting.

I believe (though I guess I have no way of proving) that “Pony Owner” is a poser. Her grammar is totally unlike the grammar of the real PO’s prior posts, when he posts in the real PO’s language it’s clearly cut and paste or babbelfish and not grammatically correct. The maturity level is many ticks below the way the PO comports herself on COTH. She’s also trying too hard to draw attention to herself when it’s been clear for days that the real PO has been trying to distance herself from this thread. Why someone would spend their time/energy doing that… it’s beyond my ability to explain. I’m not a psychologist. It’s bizarre. Perhaps one of the more bizarre bits of an exceptionally bizarre thread.

Totally a tangent, and very weird.

I still don’t think you are the owner…

who cares, really. Its just so strange.

99.99999% 0f posters here already know identity of PO . lol

I have no idea what’s going on right now.
This is the best thread in the history of ever. Roll with it! You know you want to!

“Pony Owner” as far as I can tell is an intentionally fake-houseguest. Basically COTHers kept asking for PO to chime in, and eventually one COTHer created an alter that was meant as a spoof of PO; the French started as a spoof of the “Je suis Charlie” movement (like the “I am Spartacus” in the old Spartacus movie). The guac came from…another tangent.

It’s pretty clear (to me, maybe?) that it is a spoof alter, playing on the houseguest tradition and the expressed wish of many to have PO join the thread.

GAHHHHH! I keep trying to post, but I can’t READ fast enough to keep up with this ballooning, expanding thread , every time I look it keeps sprouting MORE pages.

Anyway, the burning question (for me) is this: IF the OP had said “yes, I WILL BUY the tack and all the other miscellaneous stuff you want to send me home with for this wonderful pony–here is a check!” Would the PO have accepted the check, pulled out the contract, had the OP sign it, and allowed her to load up said pony and go home with her?

Well, yes, this is probably true at this point. So many people have posted details about her that it’s becoming pretty obvious.

I did not get this humor angle on it (that the “Pony Owner” is playing on people’s wishes to have an Aunt Ester type chiming in) but I suppose that’s an explanation too.

And I don’t know the identity of the “true” PO, so if someone would PM me…? Please?

Oh my.

Blueberry is lovely to watch in the warm-up, but I have to say the Glock horses are nice also.

OMG. Crockpot, stop being a jerk.

I just got up. PO is in the lobby with my friend. I don’t think she’s PonyOwner. I’ll go and see.

YES, guac is free with a VEGETARIAN burrito/burrito bowl. It’s free, and it’s fantastic.

Ask her if the written messages between herself and OP were a total fabrication too, or if both of them kinda fail at communication?
Am I the only one that would have had a minor heart attack at being surprised with $5000 of tack and equipment that I was expected to buy with no warning? When she initially mentioned buying the tack I thought maybe $500 and thought “sure, if the pony was nice, no problem”. BUT…you can buy a whole lot of really nice, brand new, custom tack for $5000! How many people really have $5000 that readily available? Not in my corner of the world. Anyway, not on any side here, just wondering if I was the only one thinking that was a crazy lot of money. Oh, and I have no idea who PO is…continue…
I would be surprised if the stated price was $5000, but I don’t think we know that it was? Tack worth $5000 does not need to be sold for $5000, especially in a situation where you’re already talking about what sounds like a pony with some sales value being given away free - tack could’ve been offered at some kind of nominal price.

In fact, if someone was giving me a decent horse free - as happens occasionally on COTH - I would not be surprised if they wanted to offer tack to go with if they had stuff that fit well and knew I didn’t have anything. I do not, however, think the purchasing of the tack was the actual problem in this scenario. I think PO just did not want to give OP the pony, since it sounds like there are a number of red flags.

(Actually, as I have never owned a horse, the chances are quite good that when I do get a horse, if the tack to fit the horse was offered also, I would strongly consider it. I would be surprised by someone who expected me to already have tack, actually - as tempting as some sales are, I don’t want to waste my money on stuff that won’t fit the horse I end up with, and I’m not comfortable buying a saddle and making it fit with shims and so on, as some people do, at least not as a long term solution. So at most if I knew for sure I was going to be picking up a horse, I’d go out and buy a suitable halter and lead in case he didn’t come with one - halters can be gotten for pretty cheap and don’t really need to fit Exactly Right so you can guess at sizing more easily, or just ask - and grooming supplies. Okay, and also a horse first aid kit because I am a paranoid person that way. But I wouldn’t rush out to buy saddle/bridle/etc. until I had the horse in front of me and could easily do measurements and have a saddle fitter out.)

Of course, now I’m going to go and be paranoid that when I am ready to get a horse, something in my posting history here on COTH is going to make prospective seller run for the hills. Oh well. Is the risk of the internet, I suppose. I don’t think I’ve said anything too horrible, anyway.

So you’re telling me Guac is free with ANY burrito bowl???
