Working Student Positions?

I was just curious if anyone knew of any working student positions available along the Eastern United States. I would need housing and board for one horse. Of course in exchange for the usual working student duties (mucking stalls, cleaning tack, etc).

I have emailed some people off the eventing nation page, but they all seem like they are from a while ago.

Any info appreciated!

Dana Cooke has just advertised in the past 2 weeks. Her working student has returned to England. Give her a try - don’t know her email, but she is at Kingfisher Park Equestrian in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Colleen Rutledge was advertising for a working student recently.

Definitely check yard&groom.com

I am currently looking for 1 more working student!

I am currently looking for one more working student, although I am down in Texas. I run a great program, where you will do the normal working student duties, but also get to ride and teach daily as well as get a weekly stipend. Send me an email if you’re interested, txhorsetrainer@gmail.com also can check out the website, www.rockwallhills.com or www.ellenhumeeventing.com
Thanks

Kristin Schmolze (Athens, GA) is hiring

Matt Brown in Cochranville, PA is looking. My daughter just spent a year as a WS there. PM me if you want contact info.

Check with Missy and Jessica Ransehousen at Blue Hill Farm in Unionville, PA. Website is Blue Hill Farm. They definitely offer board and housing for one horse/one person, and possibly also a stipend with minimal mucking. I know they are shorthanded right now after a WS left recently after her horse was unexpectedly injured.

I just met Dana when I was in NC visiting family. She seems very nice and friendly. We were checking out boarding facilities in Moorseville since we are planning to move back at some point. She had just returned from Jersey Fresh and took the time to talk about eventing in the area even though we wouldn’t be moving for a bit. I am definitely adding Kingfisher and Dana Cooke to my list of where the horses will go:yes:

Cathy Jones Forsberg in Gainsville is looking, PM for number / details.

Denny Emerson still accepts working students; you work in exchange for the horse board and lessons daily, but you’ll have to find living accommodations in the area. IIRC he has a loft above his VT barn that you can live in, or you can rent from one of the locals. Definitely worth looking into, he’s a great instructor. I was a WS of his many many summers ago and rented the loft for the summer.

Is your daughter Demi? If so, we’ve met her several times and she is such a sweet girl.

Jane Sleeper in PA may have something. I don’t know what she has available for housing or board for a horse.

I thought Andrea Leatherman Davidson was looking for a nanny/working student a week or so ago?

Courtney Cooper of C Square Farm in Nottingham, PA is looking for a working student. You can learn more about her program at www.csquarefarm.com.
