worst x-mas present ever recieved
Well, I have one that is not funny and not horsey. But since Christmas is coming up again, and we’re all talking about it, I would be interested in what you guys would do with this.

A few years back, at the end of a very serious relationship that went suddenly and unexpectedly sour, my soon-to-be ex-BF gave me a VERY expensive watch. Here is how he did it. He called me and gave me his cc # and exp. date and told me to go online and buy it. He really wanted me to have it, but was too busy to do it himself. ??? At any rate, the danged watch is a Cartier and it cost a bundle.

Fast forward to today. I love the watch. In theory, at least. It’s a wonderful watch. But I hate the whole situation surrounding it. I always think of it as my “booby prize” (no pun intended) or “parting gift.” I think the guy felt very guilty for the very slimey thing he was doing, and this expensive watch made him feel better. In many ways, it made me feel worse. Definitely my worst Christmas gift ever.

AND, to keep it horse-related, I have nowhere to wear this watch anymore. King entered my life as the ex- exited. Now I live on a small farm with two horses and absolutely nowhere to wear this expensive watch.

So … do I keep it and wear it occasionally and forget about the whole awful-ness of the thing … send it back to the guy with a hateful note … or sell it on ebay?

Hate the guy. Love the watch. What to do?
I know what you do. You sell it and buy some new tack.

I think it’s time to resurrect this thread. Any new additions from last year?

I love this thread, thanks for the bump!

I have been told from someone who knows my SIL that she got me something nice…would be great if she regifted the Secretariat’s Meadow book I gave her last year. I decided to take the high road for Mr P’s sake and get them a selection of gourmet bacon and sausage and I’m not even packaging it in the tote. I hope they won’t regift that…or at least do it while it’s fresh!

Mr P is getting me …http://www.eclipsealuminumtrailers.com/straight-loads/st-sr

Last year DH gave me wool socks… because we all know how comfy those are under field boots! I sent him a list, with links, this year.

This isn’t an x-mas gift, however, I had to share. For my baby shower last Jan, my grandmother was all proud of herself for getting me something, since usually people just brought stuff for the baby (I thought that that was the point?). She hands me a beautifully wrapped present, declaring that it was the PERFECT thing to wear after delivery.

I unwrapped a size xxxL (I’m about 5’2 and 110 lbs) mu-mu type floor length nightgown. It had buttons from one end to the other. It had a VELVET AND LACE COLLAR. It was royal blue, with bright pink and red rose buds scattered about. It was made from some feed sack/wool blend that was super comfy. She completed the ensamble with rainbow toe socks and purple house slipper with grippies on the bottom. Thanks Grandma.

You betcha I had to wear it when she came to visit too!

we really need that ROFLMAO icon

and of course pictures!

A panini maker is probably the worst gift I have ever gotten. Really? Who gives you a PANINI MAKER!!!

I refuse to post pictures of the thing… unless it’s on a hanger.

MorganJumper, how could you!? I got a panini maker for Christmas one year, and was stoked! I love that thing! Who doesn’t like paninis!? Of course, I might have been the only 17 year old that wanted gourmet cheese for Christmas, so a panini maker was appropriate, lol.

I have to admit I’d like the panini press, too. My SIL gave us a quesadilla maker last year and I thought we’d never use it: WRONG! We love it!

My aunt, who I love dearly, really doesn’t have a clue sometimes. I very rarely wear pink and I am very insecure about my weight. So one year she gets me a huge (like 2 sizes too big) pale pink t-shirt with one of the ugliest horse pictures I have ever seen on the front. I wore it as a night shirt.

This is the same aunt that proudly proclaims “I got your favorite!” and continually buys me Ferrero Rocher as a gift. I hate hazelnut. I have no idea where she figured this was my favorite. She sees me pretty often and we are close. No idea. So I just smile and say “thank you” since I don’t have the heart to tell her.

Superminion, pictures or it didn’t happen… that sounds phenomenal.

I also would like a panini maker. For my husband to make paninis for me.

Pannini press PSA

If it is a Cuisinart Pannini maker you can get plates to turn it into a Belgian waffle maker. I love mine

Interesting. My MIL gave us a quesadilla maker maybe 5 years ago. It’s still in the box, buried in the back of a cabinet somewhere, and I have never used it. Not once. And I love to cook.

The thought was nice, though. Apparently she was trying to replace my broken tortilla press (totally different implement) and got confused. And that’s actually horse related, since one day I couldn’t find my pill crusher, so I tried to squish a bute tablet in the tortilla press, and one of the plates cracked completely in half.

They’re awesome. Seriously. We use ours a lot!

My grandmother used to knit my brother and I stuff each Christmas when we were kids. Typically when you’re young, you really don’t appreciate that kind of stuff, but it was even harder to like it when she went off of measurements from two years prior and you had grown since. Necklines choked, cuffs cut off circulation, too small torsos would prevent proper breathing… Add to it that she usually used wool that was 150% extra scratchy, and well, we were pretty miserable.

Though I’d give anything to have a knit something-or-other by her today…

I love anything that is good for making grilled cheese sammiches. My Foreman grill makes a great one.

Grilled cheese is pretty much my favorite thing.

I love em with a hint of flavor in the batter. Never done anything exotic with the cheese though. I find it’s hard to get much flavor out of the cheese though you can always add toppings for more zip.

Umm Lex? Where exactly does batter fit in with grilled cheese?
