Would you ride in a body suit?

Very rarely these days does something entirely new get marketed to me. Just now I got FB spammed with an ad for a show shirt that is a body suit with snap crotch. I have to say I have never enjoyed body suits in normal life and much prefer separate tights and T shirt even for dance based classes. I also don’t feel like I have a huge problem with tops getting untucked from my breeches. But perhaps the idea has merit. Anyone ever seen these?

They’ve been around with varying degrees of popularity for years. I think they were more common in breed shows in the 90s

Ah ok they are something that came and went while I was out of horses. Makes sense because the body suit was the fitness gear for the 1980s and then it turned up in horse gear a decade later. I assume if people loved them they’d be more prevalent.

Ok, my attempt to provide a totally trivial novelty failed. Carry on.

This was totally useful in providing social interaction during self quarantine

If memory serves, they were pretty popular as part of western show clothes

Nope, they look like a really bad wedgie waiting to happen.

Anyone else think it’s awkward the bottom is flesh colored? I guess I see that they’re trying to avoid any issues with wacky colors under white breeches but if for some reason your breeches ride down / suit still rides up a bit, it’s going to look a bit exposing :uhoh:

No way. I think it’s a major wedgie risk, and the thought of snaps in my crotch while riding just makes me cringe.

In concept, it makes perfect sense. In practical application, so many issues!

Personally, I am still emotionally scarred from the body suit+super low hip hugger pants fad that hit during my high school years in the '70s.

The body suit for riding gets a hard no from me.

This.

Also, the few times I’ve had a show shirt become untucked, it’s been covered by my coat anyway. Not sure why I’d need to worry so much about that situation that I’d want to wear a bodysuit with crotch snaps. I don’t hate my ladybits.

Having ridden in them years ago in western activities, I never had any issues! Not painful, no exposed look or wedgie creating!! Mine were all one color, no flesh tone briefs at the bottom. My pants and jeans were low rise, since I have short hips.

I would wear them again if I was showing. You always looked neat and orderly in those shirts. They are coming back again in western attire. Those VERY expensive show shirts are offered with snap crotch options now. I would opt for real snaps instead of velcro, no stiffness to sit on! Yikes!!

An issue with the wedgie, might be correct fit. Shirts not being long-bodied enough. One-piece swimsuits can also have that problem. No one wants clothing that doesn’t fit! So make sure that body length is long enough to fit comfortably when ordering such shirts.

Wonder why can’t just use snaps to connect the shirt to your underwear?
i get claustrophobic in too tight clothes, especially if I start to get too hot. Cut a ski jacket up with scissors when the zipper broke
and I was overheating once.

I gotta have an escape hatch.
my bladder is being mean and sneaky to me these days.

I had forgotten what a bodysuit was and I was imagining like a head to toe leotard lol. Either way, no thanks! There is no way they would make it the right shape for my butt, and I wouldn’t want to run the risk of lining up the Velcro wrong and having it catch hair. Or sometimes Velcro has that sharp edge? Not for me. But I can see how it would work well for lots of people.

I made the mistake once as a teen to ride in a lesson (I rode western at the time) in overalls. They were somewhat fitted. Or was it a body/pant-suit? Either way, it was SO wrong. You get a wedgie in a place you never want a wedgie. Never again would I wear anything where the top is connected to the bottom. Lesson learned almost 40 years ago.

What I thought you were talking about. In my mind… “what the hell is wrong with people?”

they’ve got the thong bottom so wedgie included at no extra charge.

I was totally picturing a speed skater outfit or maybe like Spiderman’s costume, but this is sooo vanilla lol

I wore one in the mid 90’s. They worked fine - the snaps weren’t right at the bottom where you would sit on them, but way up front.

The one linked up there would look sleek in a jumper class where jackets are not required, or dressage when jackets are waived. No extra fabric to bunch up when tucked in.

Being long bodied the idea of a body suit always makes me cringe. Having the bulk of snaps or velcro in my crotch while riding also makes me cringe.
