He was euthanized for an injury. I was at stable view also running. I don’t believe they had a rotational, but all speculation. It might have been a fracture? But again, don’t know all the details and the footing was wet but not bad.
Eventing nation article said accident so not sure exactly what that means.
Looks like EN hid/blocked most of the comments on their Facebook post.
She updated on FB today. I’m so shocked and saddened. She loved that horse (T) and they were such an incredible team to watch and follow. My heart just breaks for her as she is just such an amazing rider, vet and friend.
Yes, only as long as you are sure of the facts.
Wow is there any proof of this?
Fox Lea did post there was a tragedy today but they weren’t going to post any information except condolences.
Sadly, very sadly, it seems the rider was killed. And I guess the event continued.
Why have you deleted your posts? You’ve made some serious accusations about what you had “heard” about a rotational fall and a rider “bleeding out” in a show jumping class in Venice Florida because a “helicopter couldn’t land”.
You also posted that the footing was corrected (raked over) after the fatal blood loss and that the class continued. You are treading on thin ice if this is gossip and you have no actual facts.
Deleting your posts makes me believe that you do not have the facts in your possession.
…….wow.
I won’t comment on allegations apparently made upthread, but from what little I could find online, it sounds like it was a tragic accident and I am not sure it’s relevant to the thread… unless the notion is that none of us should ride or work with horses.
It appears that this was a H/J show. While it is indeed a tragedy, and my heartfelt condolences go out to all those who knew and loved the person whose life was lost and those who witnessed the accident, I wonder if it is germane to the broader conversation on this Eventing thread.
If it was a rotational fall, such accidents in H/J (or Stadium) are exceedingly rare, and I am not sure there is very much else that can be done to prevent them. We already have flat cups and jumps designed to come down when hit. If it was a horse trip and fall or a “regular” rider fall or any number of other scenarios, those can happen in any discipline at any gait at any time. As we don’t know for sure the exact nature of the fall, or the injuries, or whether the rider was wearing a safety vest, it is likewise unclear if wearing one could have mitigated injuries.
Perhaps details will emerge that demonstrate that indeed, conditions were such that changes should be made. I don’t know that is clear at this point.
So, I am not sure there is much to discuss here other than the shock and sadness at someone doing something they, and we, love and losing their life in the process.
As a horsewoman, that is something that I have to accept is a possibility for myself, even when all precautions are taken. I think we all accept that risk when we decide to own, ride or be around horses.
I wish the friends and family peace and comfort, and may the rider rest in peace.
Not that this is accurate either, but yeah it sounds pretty horrible.

I have to admit that my first thought when I saw this thread updated, was oh no, Cecelia or Stella Artois, that their injuries were worse than initially believed.
I think she made the right choice deleting, and I’m sure we’ve all heard of something truly horrific and been quick to repeat “what we’ve heard”.
Something horrific did happen at fox Lea, and a jr died, we don’t know the details but shaming the poster for deleting her comment after she realized she made a mistake for posting without concrete facts is not fair.
Here is a local news story on the accident
Here’s the deal. As most of you know I am now primarily a jumper rider. As such, I had friends at Fox Lea yesterday, one was at the ring when it happened.I have talked to them. I know the facts from people who were there.
The cliff notes are this:
It was a junior eq class.
It did not happen at, over or on landing of a jump. It was between jumps.
There was an ambulance there almost immediately. The helicopter piece previously mentioned was not correct.
This was a tragic accident and show officials handled it as best as they could under the circumstances.
I’m not thrilled that the NBC news station chose to release the rider’s name. I was not there, but I too grieve for this family.
ETA: I was asked to include that the classes in the jumper ring were also cancelled after this accident.

I can’t imagine the grief of her family and horror for anyone who witnessed it. So very sad.
A horrible accident, especially for someone so young. My heart goes out to the family.
Does anyone know if the horse also suffered in this accident and if so, how he is?
Horse was fine is what I am told.
