What a lovely boy!!! Lucky you, he’s going to be a fabulous teacher.

He reminds me SO much of my horse in his attitude and style. Can confirm: 110% good boy, 110% chance of having a blast.

I’ll have to be voice of dissent here and say he looks absolutely unsuitable. But I’m in a generous mood today, so I’ll take him off your hands!

All joking aside, congratulations, what a wonderful horse and you clearly make a great pair!

That’s a good horse. You will learn so much from him. Congratulations!

Agreed, OP you have to get rid of him right away before someone gets killed, and I’ll be a genuine savior and help you with this as soon as I find the purchase price in the couch cushions and under the car seat …

JK! He looks like a grand soul and as if he is serious about keeping his rider alive. And he doesn’t seem to find his job to be especially hard work.

LOVE HIM! Congrats!

People will ask if we’re doing hunters or jumpers, and I’ll say “neither, we’re just entering good boy classes”

Me too! And I don’t even jump any more. He just looks like a pleasure to have around and to ride

Congrats OP! He reminds me of my guy

I love this horse for you, and I love your trainer as well! I can be the queen of picking so I’ve walked in your shoes😄 Wish I was lucky enough to have one like this to ride. You two look wonderful together and I’m sure you’ll both be so happy with each other!

He’ll be a blessing and a curse because he’ll always add no matter which makes him so safe. But I’ll have to really work on that forward gallop because the add is too easy

GOOD. Perfect.

“When in doubt leave it out” is the absolute worst advice ever parroted by JAW “ trainer people” working with developing riders. Another being ‘Ride him like you stole him”. Just…NO. Unless you like rotational falls over small fences.

Horse that will chip when its not right is smarter then these people. Rider who rides the correct track and stays forward doesn’t need speed. This horse will teach you that.

Congrats!

What does that mean, anyone?

I first saw that expression a few years ago and I have no idea how one rides a stolen horse in a way different way that just - riding. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It assumes one is running from the law…always thought it was a stupid thing for a trainer or other adult to yell at a child and almost never hear it off the beginner/schooling show level, making it stupider. Under that strategy, they’ll never get off that level even if they survive their rounds.

It exists in other fields too. In aviation its “fly like you stole it” but, sensibly, adds “ Land it like you own it”

It means “go fast and take risks” which is bad advice
