Does anyone have an impression of the X-Prestige Helen K saddle? I have a 14.1 Welsh-X pony who is proving to be a real bugger to fit because of his huge shoulder and very short, curved back. I’ve sat in dozens and dozens of saddles and so far the only thing that fits both the pony and me is Fred Taht’s Veritas Eximo, which is like heaven in a saddle but carries an unaffordable price tag. I’m meeting with a Prestige fitter tomorrow and was wondering how people like them, and how they hold up. I will only ride in the saddle 5x a week (or slightly less) so it doesn’t have to last a million rides, but I am concerned about what Prestige advertises as thin flaps. I worry about durability.
i have the mono flap (is that the one you are trying? i think so from the name) and LOVE it.
my KWPN is welsh pony shape tbh, short, thick neck, no withers, high round croup, massive shoulder movement. We jokingly call him the 16hh native pony.
off the peg these saddles come with VERY over stuffed panels, but i had about half the flock removed and it then fit perfectly very secure saddle, supportive and so far wearing like iron…ive had it a year, use it 4/5 times a week and it looks brand new.
My 13hh round pony has the Prestige Lucky and we both love it.
Have a look at the Harry Dabbs Hunter dressage. Very wide, short, and curvy.
Met with the Prestige rep and wasn’t thrilled with the seat or overall quality of their saddles. I think she brought mostly low-end versions of their saddles and she only had one monoflap, but all in all I wasn’t thrilled. I’d love to ride in a Venus K but none of the reps seem to be able to get their hands on a demo. So it’s looking more and more like I’ll be saving my pennies for the Veritas or an Otto Schumacher. Discovered yesterday that my pony only has a 15.5 inch back to work with, which seriously limits our options!
