Yet another "help me with breeches" thread. . . .

So I’ve got too many breeches, and none of them are perfect. My favorites are unfortunately the ones I’ve bought off facebook that might as well be classified as “the breeches that time forgot”: JPC platinum shapely, ELT, some knit Horze with 1 inch belt loops. . . .

I’m looking for a slightly heavier fabric, front zip, full seat, not silicone, sock bottom, and full length rise, in what is normally a 34(street size 16), and preferably not $200, although I’m beginning to think I might have to spend that much.

I absolutely cannot wear modified low rise, comort fit, equitrue, or any of the other euphemisms the manufacturers have come up with for “we are too cheap to give you all the fabric you paid for and only like to buy short zippers”. I’ve tried more than all of them, and I refuse to fight with my clothes to get them to stay up. I’ve tried the tuff riders, and the lack of structure around the midsection makes me look like I’ve shoved a spare tire in my shirt.

You would think someone, somewhere out there would be making my pants, but I can’t find them. Maybe the collective wisdom of COTH will have more luck? I’ll even pay international shipping at this point.

Are these for schooling? Try the Dublin Shapely: https://www.amazon.com/Dublin-Active-Shapely-Breech-White/dp/B00ZD33LI2/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=dublin+shapely&qid=1567184363&s=gateway&sr=8-2

tried them. they are modified low rise, so the pooch comes out over the top and is cut in half by the belt I have to wear to keep them from rolling down like a pair of expensive stockings. Not a great look.

other than that, I was pretty pleased. the fabric is about what I was looking for. I was seriously excited when I pulled them out of the package.

I have a short torso, I actually have some really old JPC breeches I pulled out recently and laughed at how high they came up on me, so I can see why you like them. Too bad they’re size 24 or I’d send them your way! (petite + curvy can be a hard combo to fit!)
Have you tried the Romfh Champion? https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/romfh-champion-full-seat-breech-12747

Have you tried Smartpak breeches? I love the pipers but I hear good things about the Hadley’s. If you spend $75 it’s free shipping both ways

I ordered a pair of the champions, thanks. I’ll update back once I’ve tried them on.

I share this frustration. “High rise” doesn’t seem to actually mean to the manufacturers what it means to me :frowning: A year out from 30 and it was like “BAM, no more mid rise for you unless you’re loving that muffin top look!”

I’ve had a pair of Pikeur Laguna full seats for about 4 years that fit your bill outside of the sock bottom. They might offer that now. Definitely in the $200 range, but they last and look good so I think they’re worth the money. For all of the money I’ve spent on other garbage breeches I could have 2 more pairs of these, and I wish I did!!

Ovation Celebrity Slim Secret. They are getting hard to find in the blue colors but charcoal and iron are still out there on some sites. As are the various shades of beige/tan for showing.

I swear by them and give no s—ts that they arent what everyone else is wearing at the rated shows.

They check all your boxes. I highly recommend.
I’m 5’5” and wear the 34R in these.

Have you tried Rompfh Sarafinas? I have knee patch ones but they make them in full seat, and they are midrise. I just got a pair off eBay for under $100, new. I think I paid around $170-180 for my first pair at the tack shop. I can’t do low rise for fear of tummy pooch and muffin top, and these work for me. They hold everything in and I was told by the tack shop that they flatter a wide variety of body types. I love them.

I bought a pair of used breeches at the consignment shop. Tailored Sportsman, model Jackie. High waisted, full seat. They are fabulous! No idea how old they are, but worth looking into!

I also have a pair of Toggi that I really like. Mine are a quite a bit older, but these look similar. Mine are really a heavy fabric with full seat.

Definitely try the Smartpak Hadley breeches. Thicker fabric, sock bottoms, good healthy midrise, and they come in fun colors. I wear a 36 in Tailored Sportsman and sized up to a 38 for the Hadleys, and I’m very happy with the fit. These are my everyday go-to breeches. As someone else said, free returns with Smartpak so no regrets if they’re not the ones for you.

Another thought - not sure why no side zip? I wear a 32 in most breeches but found that for TS I could not fit in front zip (32 too small, 34 too big) but side zip 32s fit perfect. Seems to vary by brand.
