Yorktown, Texas--where to look for western riding instruction?

I’m not even sure what I want to learn, but figure while I’m in Texas I should take advantage of the local horse scene.

I’m on the western side of Yorktown, 90 east-ish minutes from San Antonio.

The problem is this area is so rural that I am stymied at finding a tack shop, let alone a training barn.
And so I don’t look like a total idiot, what should I ask about the disciplines?

Reining looks fun, and barrel racing also looks like a blast, can a chubby fifty something English trail rider pick up either of those easily? I’m not at all competitive, so only need something fun to work on.

What do lessons like this cost in this area?

I’m fairly certain that chasing cows or goats it not for me, I worry too much about hurting them.
I just want to get some exercise and learn something new on horseback—something that will make me happy to go to a barn 2/3 times a week, and which I can afford too.

I’d do some digging on these links, as there were quite a few in San Antonio area and parts around there.

Or just type in different disciplines too and give your area.

Try some of each maybe?

thanks so much, it’s a place to start!
