I desperately need new saddle pads! Two horses to ride so my meager stack is used up almost daily. Pads need to be durable, not fancy but nice enough for lessons, very washable, and above all, realistically priced! Thanks, all

Lots of colors, lots of shapes, I do horse laundry every two weeks or so in the summer, rotating between four or so pads, so they hold up. Very affordable.
Dover’s basic pads are cheap and do not die… I also was really surprised with Warendorf (Dover brand) - I bought one of their dressage pads and LOVED the feel of it… thin and soft which is perfect for hot summers but of good thread/quality.
PRI. Love them.
I love the SmartPak ones. They are nice and thick, hold up well to washing, don’t seem to pill or fade.

I like them too, but they’re too dense for me in terms of heat evaporation… my horse is almost always worked the same but he is much sweater in the SP ones… but they are BEAUTIFUL.
I have several different Roma pads and love them all - it is one of my go-to brands.
I love the cheap-o Tuffrider AP pads. They’re not fancy, they’re not thick and fluffy, and they don’t have pretty piping. They’re the only pads that really fit my horse’s back well (big withers) and don’t slip around too much. They’re thin and light, so he doesn’t get as hot underneath them.
They have fun colors but also have your basic neutrals. They wash well and are durable (they’ve withstood my abuse.) The peach one is beautiful, but I have a chestnut so I’m hesitant to buy it
They’re like $17 at State Line.
I really like the smartpak lite AP pads. No annoying billet straps to cut off, and they’re durable and wash up well.
I also like PRI but they are heavy, so I don’t use them when it’s REALLY hot. I think they’re $16 with the smartperks discount.

These are the only AP pads I’ve found that are long enough to fit my 17.5 in saddle without the saddle and half pad hanging over the back edge. They are lightweight, wash well and look nice. And for $20, I don’t feel bad about having so many. I’ve had a few embroidered with my practice logo for shows as well.
I really like the Roma ones as well. They have this wicking material on the inside that works great.
HKM makes some fantastic pads - they’re not as cheap as some of the others listed here, but they hold up great. I like the diamond quilted ones: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271480790432?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=570368291413&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Dover’s small diamond pads aren’t pad. And I actually also really like the Lettia Pro series pads.
I’ve not been super-impressed with how the PRI pads wear, and my SmartPak Lite pad is basically falling apart with light use.
Another more expensive option that doesn’t die is the Mattes Light Flannel pad. They’re getting a bit harder to find, but they wear really well and are not super-thick (they were designed to be ideal for use with a Mattes halfpad, in terms of breathability).
All that said, I typically use baby pads, as they are so much easier to wash!

Yes, and they come in a billion color combinations too.
I have a couple of these Roma pads. I really like them! Strong and durable.

They are cheap, but if your horse has any kind of wither prominence, they will camp down.
Another vote for the cheap-o TuffRiders from HorseLoverz. They have a shaped wither, wash up pretty well (the color will fade over time, but they are fine for lessons) and come in a ton of colors.
Well my favorite one is not cheap in the retail market (I snagged mine from Tack of the Day), but it is really awesome! It’s a Rambo Newmarket Handy Pad. http://shop.horseware.com/products/productdetail/part_number=DPAS2H/1455.0.1.1 It is the perfect size, stays put without billet straps, looks sharp and holds up well to washing.
