Your impressions of the American Saddlebred group?

I missed the whole thing- can you guys tell me how you thought the breed was represented?

Couldn’t see 'em at all on the live feed, Stars. We got 3 seconds of According to Lynn trotting in (frontal view); 5 seconds of Mr. Shatner (side view, more of him than of the horse); and that was it. When Michele’s beautiful turnout came in, all they showed was the carriage. Couldn’t see the horses at all. I was screaming at the screen I was so mad!

Agree ~ but still Nice to see ~

Agree with War Admiral ~ but glimpses of some of the BEST ~ Louisville was the last show for According to Lynn so one last presentation was nice ~ and Michelle = “over the top” cool each performance  everywhere they go  ~ I enjoyed the Opening Ceremonies inspite of the slight and poor coverage of the American Saddlebreds ~ still glad they were invited to show their talent & beauty  ~ actually I am rather pi$$ed off about the ASB coverage BUT trying to remain * AO ~ Always Optimistic ~

I watched it on the TV at home on NBC (shown live in my area)…it was a nice group and they did have some nice shots…with no explanation. Then they had the talking heads on while you could see one racking around the inner track. Shatner was on for a bit but they did have more then a few seconds of his horse there…and that was an awfully nice Fine Harness horse. Too bad they did not name it or what it was doing.

It was OK, overall considering we usually get squat.

But they really didn’t show much-and the telecast lost almost the whole first 20 minutes waiting on the ND game to wrap so maybe there was more earlier???

I was a little surprised it was just the ASBs, the TB race horses from the jockey school and that Freisian group that trotted around (I know, they were great, worked hard and all but…).

I missed seeing much of the usual ethnocentric salute to the host country traditions and contributions that usually make up opening ceremonies. I mean, ALI was a great touch but…where were the assorted wholly American touches? Cowboys and Indians if you will?

Did they just not show them? Or were they not there?

I tuned in late and missed the ASB presentation :(. All I saw a “roping” demonstration with four people twirling ropes, not a horse in sight. Then some tackless riders doing tricks mostly from the ground. I stopped watching after that, since it was mainly orchestra shots and I was bored.

I LOVED them.

I’m not usually all that into park, but I LOVED them.

They SO wanted to be there, and the louder the crowd the more they loved it.

There was a pinto that was just a racking fool… and a black driving horse that was STUNNING.

Probably half of them I’d take home (for dressage) in a heartbeat.

They were beautiful and while I am sad there were no Sport ASBs, they were an electric, crowd pleasing part of the ceremonies.

I can’t say enough how beautiful they were in all their splendor… and then, all but one, standing quietly on a loose rein center ring after being fire-breathing-dragons–and the one was just a bit antsy, not mis-behaved at all.

I think they were excellent representatives, even if we hoped to see some sport types.

I loved them, too! The horses and riders looked fantastic and William Shatner looked like he was having a ball. People seemed to really enjoy that section of the show.

I went last night and I really enjoyed the saddlebreds which shocked me:lol:. I thought they did a really nice job on the opening ceremonies a little long but great. My favorite were the Indian Chiefs:)
