Your Mid-Week Cat Thread: "Cuddling Is A Contact Sport."

Okay COTHers, I’m feeling it should be Friday and yesterday was three weeks long… so continuing MVP’s tradition, this week’s segment is cats who don’t understand personal space. This is a field of expertise for cats, so I assume y’all have pictures to share.

Here’s my morning view. One of the things I love about Jello (tabby) is her Cuddle Technique. She has filling all the corners to a science. When she cuddles, she does not just step on my lap and sit - she FLOPS and spreads across every available inch.

These are not close-ups, BTW. That’s just how close they get.

And a personal favorite – “Excuse me, breakfast is late.”

I can’t take a picture of mine. He gets onto my chest, grasps me around my neck with his arms, and tucks his nose under my jaw, and holds me like that as he purrs. We are deeply in love together. He’s a male calico cat, who runs this household. He thinks.

I’ve got a bellyflopper too :heart_eyes_cat:
My fat, orange Cheeto used to wedge himself next to me.
He also served as a pillow for Bounce

Sadly, since Cheeto is gone, Bounce has to settle for me.
He sprawls on my lap & becomes comatose.
No pic of that, but this is close:

This is the late Flynny. He understood personal space. As in, my space was his space!

Fritz, the first day he was loose in the house. He was the last surviving kitten of a litter that was born to a neighborhood feral mama.

Peach is equally happy to cuddle with canines or humans.

I posted this one before, but this is Binx the Campus Cat, strongly implying that I should not be working.

Hammie, in my lap. His new thing is to stretch up and put his paws on my mouth. Since he’s 20lbs, he can almost knock me over that way.

Ok but it seems like yesterday you were telling us about the little baby stuck in barbed wire fence. How is Hammie already so grown?!

Y’all got to keep the cat photos up - I got a long day ahead of me.

I know - he’s HUGE now. My guess is somewhere between 16 - 20lbs. And just as loving and sweet as ever. His favorite thing is still to get in my lap. He’d lay there forever if I let him.

Very much a contact sport in my house, have 3 very aggressive cuddlers! The dog on the right is PISSED that Daisy is occupying the prime real estate.

Remember my thread awhile back about the super stressed out cat? Oreo… this is from this morning.

Purring, drooling, kitty blinks, I sat with her for a good half hour.

Since Duncan passed away, Baler has decided that he must step up and fill the gap. With that in mind, he goes everywhere I go and goes to bed with me when I go. He has to get on the bed and curl up on my chest and purr til either he’s asleep or I am. I wish I could get a pic of him with me, but I never take my phone to bed with me. It would be all nose and eyes anyway. Not sure how I feel about him coming to the bathroom with me - I get stuck on the toilet and he comes in all smiling, gets in the box and does the most terrible poos. And I’m stuck having to smell that - right next to me.  But I can’t be mad - he’s so happy with his cute little smiling face.

Bug comes into the bathroom with me. Not every time, but when he is napping on top of the sofa, I walk past to go to the bathroom. He will come in for me to pull his tail. He LOVES that. I pull it just enough to lift his back feet off the ground. I do this several times, and he is happy. Little weirdo. I do not get people who take their phones into the bathroom, and take a pix of their cat, nesting in their undies while they are sitting on the throne. eew.

MY shoe, not yours, even if your foot is in it. Preferably the left foot, but only with DH no one else. She is actually asleep, or at least pretending to be asleep. It makes cooking a challenge. Her contact cuddling with me involves my pillow, yet only if I pull the sheet up neatly! Then she can lie with her head on the pillow and look out the window, stretched out on her side with her back against me.
