…and that is because I keep, watching her videos…somewhat like Smartpak’s “If Horses were People.” Her adverts are entertaining with her antics and Australian accent. Natasha Althoff is her name, and she claims to be a GP rider.

I get that the best way to learn is to work with a coach and I have one and that is not about to change. I am more curious about what the lady is peddling and whether anyone here has had recent experience with her videos. There were some older threads here, but it appears that the lady has upped her game Since then and is reaching out more broadly.

Anyways, with COVID restrictions, I am finding I have more indoor time on the Interwebz.

Are you talking about the woman who yells, “HALF HALT”? She makes my teeth hurt, and I never watch it long enough to see what she wants me to buy. Horrible ad!

From what I’ve seen on her free YouTube videos and read here, there are better paid online training resources out there.

And I believe she is.

She’s an Aussie rider and did train her horses up to GP, and did CDIs at that level.

Is she the next Charlotte or Isabel? No.
Is she a somehow good rider? From her videos, she’s fine.
Is she saying weird training tips? Doesn’t appear so.

I would give it a try if online training is something you want to do.

I find that her videos are a little simplistic and not aimed at my demographic, but she understands the basics (not preaching anything straight out of left field) and the videos are mostly FREE on YouTube, so if you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

I’m glad that online training is available for those who don’t have access to a good local trainer. There needs to be a variety of trainers with different teaching styles to fit everyone’s learning needs. You might not like her teaching style, but it could be exactly what someone else needs.

I like her videos and find they sometimes present something in a different way that clicks. She’s also very good with her fear videos/program. One thing I particularly like is that she doesn’t say buy my program and you’ll be great, she says buy my program and WORK HARD and you’ll be great. She doesn’t sugar coat that it’s not easy.

I also like Natasha’s videos. Good basics and have been super helpful for some friends that are learning how to ride. I personally enjoy watching her. She clearly loves her horses and the helmet cam videos showing the rein aids are a unique perspective on what should be happening.

Her half halt commercial is hilarious. As a non-dressage person, I can relate :lol:

As an instructor, I really relate to her half halt commercial. I can’t help but think, why is the student not saying aloud what she’s thinking? We can’t know you don’t know what we are asking if you don’t say so!!

Compared to the other offerings out there, the info she presents is pretty shallow. I would recommend A Kurland Mary Wanless and Tristan Tucker, if you want more thorough information from people with deeper understanding.

I kind of love the back and forth in that funny ad and I think it would be a great service if every instructor would watch it and think about that. That if you’re yelling the same thing at your student again and again that maybe it’s that the student can’t figure out what you want them to do.

Whether she can explain it well, I don’t know, I haven’t taken the next step.

I am a subscriber to her Dressage Mastery program and find it helpful. Many of the videos are full lessons of her instructing students on green horses and then moving up the levels. My horse was green when I started watching, and I couldn’t find other full length videos showing how you work through many of the issues. It has helped me think through training issues independently and with good results. You can try it, and if you don’t like it cancel.

I got one of her ads in my FB feed. Very irritating presentation! Was pitched at people who “work so hard but never make any progress.” I work in spurts and I do make progress year over year. Wrong pitch for me. Didn’t listen to end of ad video.

When I was teaching, I felt it was my job to find a way for the student to understand me. Everyone learns differently. And if they didn’t respond to me asking for a half halt, I would ask them what a half halt was. I wouldn’t keep shouting it! If someone speaks Japanese to me, I won’t understand their language if they say it louder. If they didn’t understand it, that’s where we went. I realize her ad is an exaggeration, of course, but it still makes me crazy… rant over

Same. She may have good information, but the annoyance level is too much for me.

I get that actually teaching riding can make a coach’s voice get strident, especially in those moments your student is doing something particularly bumble headed.

But I don’t want to listen to that voice on video in my living room. I prefer a relaxed conversational voice suited to being flaked out on the sofa. But not an um and ah and mumble voice either.

Maybe I am just not the target market for instructional videos.

Reviving this old thread. Just saw a new video from Your Riding Success and was surprised to see a different person! She appears to be in England and has a super cute pony for her kid. I backtracked on the site and saw that the original person has a lot of life changes. Apparently the lovely farm was supported by her parents and since her dad’s death, the farm in to be sold. I don’t know anything beyond that. I guess she sold her “brand” to the new person while she sorts out her situation. You never know when life will throw you a curveball!

That’s unfortunate to hear. She seemed like a kind person and a decent rider, dad’s money notwithstanding and even if some of you guys thought she was too loud.
