Awwwwwww, too adorable!!! Best of health & luck to the little guy! Thanks, Laurie.
She sure stamps 'em! Handsome little boy. And I love the look she gets on her face. Besotted would be a good word for it!
I was personally hoping for another baby girl but there’s no bad Zenny baby…
Mare and foal are at the equine hospital for observation on the foal - meconium staining. Hope everything goes well and they are discharged soon.
He sure does look like Mom! And Zenyatta obviously adores motherhood.
I love dark bays and what do you think of those ears!
I follow her on Facebook and the photos are just great.
I think those ears look just like Mom’s.
Regardless of how they perform on the track she sure throws some great looking foals
He didn’t make it. Bummer.

“VERSAILLES, KY — (April 13, 2016) It is with heavy hearts that Team Zenyatta and Lane’s End Farm must announce the passing of Zenyatta’s 2016 foal by War Front. His death occurred at approximately 9:00 am this morning due to complications of meconium aspiration syndrome. We express our deep gratitude to Dr. Peter Morresey and the professionals at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital who worked tirelessly to support the mare and foal. Zenyatta is in good health and back home at Lane’s End Farm.”
Sounds like the farm was very proactive in taking mom and son to the hospital as a precaution but still so sad that even with precautions, they aren’t always successful.
So so sad…
so sad!
Just tragic, that’s two in a row, both by War Front, who’ve been lost to accident. Both gone before we could have known what they could have been capable of.
I’m guessing she’ll be seeing War Front again in May. But who knows.
So sad.
So terribly sad. My heart goes out to all of “Team Zenyatta”.

I’m almost tempted to say no about sending her back to War Front. It’s like the cross is jinxed or something.
It is terribly sad that she’s lost 2 in a row. Fingers crossed next year things go better.

I get whatcha mean. It would have been hard for us to know how correct Z16 was, since we never saw any photos beyond that one shot of him announcing his arrival, but obviously the '14 filly looked fabulous enough that the Mosses would have wanted to return to War Front. They obviously like the cross.
But dang, it almost seems like something is saying that we can’t have this cross grow up. sigh
I’m crossing my fingers too, and hoping everything goes better next year. If she doesn’t go back to War Front (at least not right away, maybe after losing 2 in a row, it might be hard for the Z Team to send her back), I wonder if they’ll send her to Tapit or pick someone else.
Just confirms what I have always said about foaling - and why I dread it and love it all at once - it is the best of times and the worst of times. And even at state of the art farms with the best care possible, things can and do go wrong.
My heart breaks for both Zenyatta and her humans. So very sad.
Very sad!
I’d forgotten about the other one. What happened to it?
Did she have a foal in '15?

She had a filly that had to be euthanized after only a few months after a tragic pasture accident.
