Thoughts on this new guy? Currently owned by Hyperion Stud and will be down in Florida this winter with Candace King. Seems like an incredible jumper. I would like to know outside thoughts on him.

I have seen him several times and in my estimation , one of the best young stallions I have seen imported in quite sometime. Very correct , very good under Candice , abundance of scope and a really good hind end. Nice mix between Cardento and Libero H. He’s already in FL and I think he placed 3rd in the 1.40 meter the other day with Candice. I think you will see him in the big ring in the next year or so.
I will use him in the spring.

A new Dutch activated stallion for US breeders.
With what registry is he approved?
Nice horse…
Yes, according to the two videos I have seen of him.

He is not approved yet but he will be approved BWP this summer and KWPN eventually. Call the owner and she will tell you about registration possibilities. He didn’t get out of quarantine until right after the inspection was over…in fact , I think he missed it by only a few days. He’s a shoe in for multiple registries.
At this point, he looks activated for KWPN so that’s Register B papers.
Super gene pool for NA breeders!
For incredible eye candy, go here.
Love love love Ustinov – Libero H x Nimmerdor x Marco Polo.
Nice horse that descends from the same motherline as Ustinov whose daughter Bestinov out of an Indorado mare won this years VION-cup for the 5-years and who later was sold to Russia for 290.000€ at the Dutch Sport Horse Sales.
Father Cardento as done much good for showjumping in Sweden and Netherlands but has also started to prove himself in eventing where i.e the son Ardenco (out of a Contender-mare) competed successfully in the World Championship in Lion d’Angers this year.
“Contender mares” are starting to sound like a broken record. He is an unbelievable sire of dams.
He has some good sons , some top sporthorses i.e. Carlo , but his daughters are showing up everywhere as amazing producers.
Looks like the maternal grandmother Haifa is the dam of the Dutch stallion, Nijinsky, also by Libero H.
I second the encouragement to contact Vicki Castegren at Hyperion Stud with any questions regarding Zilverstar VDL. She is very knowledgeable and very willing to discuss any of her horses and her plans for them.

Absolutely accessible , very honest and down to earth. Stud fees are all very attractive and fair. Promotion of their foals will be very high as well.
Love your quote by the way ! Sadly , Ive seen this play out way too much.
Zilverstar
Zilverstar’s dam Maifa is a full sister to KWPN stallions Ustinov and Nijinski.
What’s interesting is that his damline does not seem to throw incredibly tall offspring, both Ustinov and Nijinski being in the (1.66m-1.67m range), yet Zilverstar is listed as 1.69m on paardenfokken.nl and 17.2h on his stallions now advertisement: http://www.stallionsnow.com/stallion-ad-510990
His sire Cardento (1.72m - 17hh) is slightly taller and perhaps this was the contributing factor to Zilverstar’s height.
Does anyone know if Zilverstar has any foals on the ground and if he is passing on his height?

I am a pretty good judge of height and I laid my hand on his wither back in the summer. He is 17 hands for sure , but I wouldn’t believe 17.2 unless I actually saw it on the stick.
Thanks Bayhawk. You mentioned that you were planning to use him in the spring. May I ask your opinion on what type of mare you think best to put to him?
Thanks, Bayhawk. Don’t know if you Dr. Allen, but a very pragmatic, very real guy, for certain, not to mention a credit to his profession.

Obviously we have no foals to go on but he is a modern horse with nice substance ,good topline , good movements , and good feet.
Knowing the blood , I would stick more with modern mares with rectangular frames. He looks pretty simple to breed with. Everything appears to be straight forward.

Don’t know him but his quote is spot on.
