I disagree. He even states that normally they would not count a bending line that long but they specifically counted to come up with the most direct option that gave them the best shot at a brilliant round, which she delivered. I LOVED the chance to hear how they plotted out each step to make bold, risky choices in an attempt to move up… and I love that it worked!
