2011 FOAL ANNOUNCEMENTS HERE

Appaloosa Sport Horse filly!

Had a VERY stressful, somewhat surprise foaling last night. I was home all alone in the early evening when I saw my mare go down suddenly… I was scrambling in the house trying to put shoes on and call my vet at the same time.

Only one foreleg was presenting. Mare got up, went back down again, rolled a bit and thank-god, two forelegs and a nose. After what seemed like hours, vet arrived while I was pulling with absolutely no progress. The foal ended up being delivered by my vet, her fiance, and myself, all while the mare was standing. Baby wasn’t breathing . Thanks to my super fantastic lifesaver of a vet, we managed to clear her lungs and got her going.

She was so big she couldn’t stand to nurse, and I spent all of last night bottle feeding her until she finally started to suckle all on her own around 4am. The whole experience was terrifying, and I am so thankful that this little filly is alive and well. I am not a breeder, and after this it’s certainly not going to be something I’ll be considering any time soon, either…

Pictured at 2, and 12 hours old, 42" tall. Sire is Royal Senna/Rubinstein I bred, dam is Plaudit/Secretariat bred:

Her name is Raina, meaning “queen”. She was born on Canada’s Victoria Day weekend in honor of Queen Victoria so it fit perfectly.

Cataluna - yikes, sorry to hear about such a scary night, but so glad it sounds like everything’s turned out fine. Congrats on a healthy filly!

Took a few new pics and finally some video of my Bugatti/Cacique colt today at 5 weeks old - pics and video at http://fridayschildfarm.com/Benjamin.htm Of course he managed to be on the wrong side of mom for most of the video…he’s definitely a momma’s boy!

Really nice performance pedigrees though so should make 3 awesome geldings out of the 4).[/QUOTE]

:yes:I knew that…which is why I took the liberty of teasing a bit about getting solids in what seems to be a year of bling!
(looking forward to pics:cool:)

BTW…sorry to hear of the loss of the one little guy:(

Eniskerry- that is so funny, my Bugatti filly is totally glued to her mom too!

Sakura Hill Farm would like to welcome Sakura Hill Grenache our Chello III VDL colt born yesterday right on time.

Another chestnut beauty!

Well my guess was right…this is the year of the chestnut filly:lol:. My Donnerhall mare had her Quaterback filly this morning at around 10am (very considerate of her). She has a star to a long snip and on the left side a sock and stocking. I’m thinking Drama Queen for her name…nothing set though.

Gorgeous colt!

Love that Romanov colt! Romanov is definitely on my short list for next year.

It seems to me that Romanov is more popular (at least in the U.S.) than full brother, Rubin Royal. Is this so, and if so, why?

(BTW…I think they are brilliant…and I love their pedigrees…)

I always loved Rubin Royal, my Prince Thatch mare was bred to him 5 years ago. But unfortunately she lost the pregnancy and was not pregnant in autumn. I did not get a reduction of breeding in the following year by them as I sold the mare (which is normally common in Germany). Than a freind received one reminder for payment after the other even though he proved again and again that he paid.
Well to be honest, I just did not want to do business with the station at that time anymore. I do not even know where Rubin Royal is at the moment. He went to Szitzerland after the station got out of business but I did not follow him anymore. And Romanov seems to be a good alternative with excelllent service provided by the station representing him in Germany !

Love also the temperament of this colt and just hope he finds a way into a good showing home or even better into a stallion raising home. Am sure he will become a great showhorse. Fullsister of dam was qualified for the Bundeschampionat last year and halfbrother of dam is cometing FEI level in the US. And there are Bundeschampions and licensed sons out of this damline aswell. I have good luck this year with my two foals (again) and am quite happy !

Because he has the nicer babies lol. No seriously I too am in the Romanov-fan bunch. I’ve bred to him numerous times and there seldom is a sire who stamps them to my liking the way he does.
We’ve had our last foal of the season born now and here is a list of photo references

soon to be completed…

Thank you for answering that Romanov/Rubin Royal question for me. I know that Judy Yancey carries the frozen of both stallions, yet it seems to me that most breeders choose Romanov.
Lovely babies!

Our only foal for this season arrived last night at 8.
It is a very long legged chestnut filly with a small star and I think one sock. She is by Benno’s Dream, out of TLF Crown Jewel (Crown Heartbreaker)
I will try to get some photos later.

TB colt born Friday the 13th of May

I’m a bit late posting - have been out of town. This guy is by Shakespeare out of Out of Money. He’s a handsome fellow - long legs and a really pretty head. Has a lovely way of going and should be nice as he “unfolds”.

Looking for a nice Shakespearean barn name - maybe Tybalt or Romeo…

Merchant of Venice (as a son of “Out Of Money”)

BTW…there are two TB mares with the name “Out Of Money” listed on the Online Pedigree database…is your mare one of them?

Thanks. I like that name, but we are not looking for a registered name right now - that will wait until he is a yearling or he may be sold…

Yes, Out of Money is on Pedigree Query - her sire is Out of Place.

Witherbee, the reason I was asking about the mare’s pedigree, is that I noticed your lovely boy has very curly ears…sometimes thought to be linked with the X factor of the Princequillo lines…discussed here and in other places:
http://books.google.com/books?id=S36O25M_6C0C&pg=PA262&lpg=PA262&dq=Princequillo+ears&source=bl&ots=-somJA7LnE&sig=Oc8PzYuWEIBbnM98Wb5dmgNj2eg&hl=en&ei=P8bbTcugLNDqgQfZ27QJ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CBwQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=Princequillo%20ears&f=false

IMHO, your mare has a very nice sport pedigree…with (among many other good things) Princequillo daughter Somethingroyal (dam of X-Factor Secretariat) feeding into her tail female line through Sir Gaylord…plus another cross to Princequillo from her dam.

Selah - thanks for that information. He does have very curly ears!
