2011 FOAL ANNOUNCEMENTS HERE

So many cute babies and such fun pictures!

Anyhow -=- here’s mine…

Hope this works… (it usually doesn’t, lol!)

This is my boy Surefire CSF - born June 12, 2011 from the PB Arabian performance mare Enjoli Bey and by Sinatra Song.

Very reasonable and level-headed and already showing great retention of what he learns. I LOVE him!

(He has already had a number of names. I have a list of good “S” names a mile long, but I think I have FINALLY settled on Surefire!

BTW – Allanglos – this baby was from a SHN Payback breeding!

Baby Walter is doing much better with his pasterns not sinking to the ground today so he got to “get out of jail” into the little paddock off the barn for a photo op other than “laying down” pics!

Born early yesterday ![](orning: BIG buttermilk buckskin Georgian Grande (Saddlebred x Percheron) colt, star and two hind socklets. Still a little upright in his front pasterns and down a little in the back, but should self-correct as mom is not and was not on a lot of protein. Super friendly, laid back and loves to be scratched!

Um, i really really hope more experts will chime in here, but I have always been told that the ancient belief of “protein is bad” has been disproved and it is now considered very important for the mare (and foal) to have high levels of protein in their diet. Protein is needed for growth.
If your mare is on a low protein feed, I would fix that STAT.

No, she is not on a low protein diet; just not a high one, along with plenty of fiber and fat. If you have a foal with contracted tendons though, high protein can exacerbate the issue. My experience has been the first thing most vets will tell you when you have a foal with contracted tendons is to cut back on the protein. This guy is just big and probably cramped in-utero so I’m expecting him to normalize on his own, but am keeping and eye on his progress. I just mentioned the protein aspect as that is the first admonishment you usually hear about upright pasterns or foals who are over at the knee - watch the protein.

he is a blondie! My little dude has the opposite problem of being small with lax pasterns…though his are looking a lot better at 4 days old now.

He is indeed very creamy right now. I’m glad your guy is looking better. It’s amazing how much they can change and improve over the first 30 days. I had one a few years ago who was quite over at the knees to begin with but could stand and nurse fine. My vet said just be patient and give him 30 days and see. He straightened up beautifully. Have also had one filly who was pretty down in the pasterns and same thing; given time and the right amount of rest and exercise, and she turned out fine too. Some are just more like butterflies emerging from a chrysalis than others.

International Stallion Guide Foal Gallery

We had a fantastic response from breeders who submitted photos of this year’s foals. Many thanks to those who participated! We will continue to update the gallery as new photos come in.

Georgian Grande? I’ve not heard of this breed. What is their usual/prefered discipline?

He certainly is a fab colour.

Thanks. Mine are basically a draft cross with a fancy name. But it’s a really nice cross. The horses make nice jumpers, eventers and dressage horses. They usually have too much front leg action for hunters. There is a website. Some are of Friesian, Saddlebred and draft extraction. I’m just really partial to the Saddlebred/Percheron cross. The sire is Spot of Gold (Palomino Pinto) a Saddlebred, and the mare is a really pretty and sporty, Percheron mare who is not coarse. This is my third and I just love them. They’re big, sweet, colorful, well-put together and can move.

I know how you guys are when there are no pictures, so I’ve waited until now (born 7/13…she’s two weeks):

Francheska (Fielding - SPS Malena/Maurice/Wenzel I/Valentino xx)

Beautiful filly!

Wise decision

Beautiful!!

Lily is a bit over 3 months now and quite a character. I swear, she has more personality than most humans.

Conformation-ish
Not this downhill in real life
Oh good heavens, what have I gotten myself into?
Mom is 15.2 on her tip toes. Piglet is enormous.
Prettiest little filly…
She is NOT an Arab. Honest.
Lovely girl

sometimes accidents do work out well. The Love Child between the 2 teenagers (2 YO filly that jumped the fence in with our stud colt last summer resulting in Baby Walter)…he is shaping up to be a really nice looking colt now that his lax pasterns are firming up nicely after a week. He bounded out of the barn instead of tottering out last night and had a few bucks in him too…so the little legs finally have some push in them now!
