2012 Breeders Cup

Anyone going?? Who are you betting for? I won tickets and gave them to my in-laws.

We’ll be there with a BIG group from Seattle. Wearing our Emerald Downs Fabulous Friday shirts on Friday and rooting on Class Included, the local horse.

Going! Got tickets for Friday, Sat will likely be GA for my friend and I. Going to the Zenyatta after party. Not likely to bet, but rooting for some of my favorite horses like Know More and Ricardo.

For those not going, but want to watch on tv a reminder this year marks the return to the BC being on NBC. They announced their BC broadcast schedule

Friday, Nov. 2, on NBC Sports Network from 4-8 p.m.

NBCSN continues its coverage on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 3:30-8 p.m.

NBC Sports will have prime-time coverage of the Breeders’ Cup Classic at 8 p.m. Nov. 3.

Larry Collmus will call the Breeders’ Cup Classic and Ladies’ Classic. NBC will take the call of track announcer Trevor Denman for the remaining races.

Look at all the Broad Brush horses in the Breeder’s Cup! There may be others that I didn’t catch:

Friday
Not Abroad, Marathon
Summer of Fun, Juv. Fillies Turf
Class Included, Ladies Classic or Filly and Mare Sprint, Slewdledo’s favorite
Include Me Out, Ladies Classic

Saturday
Richard’s Kid, Classic, my favorite
Fort Larned, Classic

I am rooting for Fort Larned in the Classic. I have similarly-bred weanling filly by E Dubai, out of Sweep Up, who is a Broad Brush granddaughter and from a good line of race mares! I’m a sporthorse breeder, but hoping to move the little one to a racing home!

Will it be live streaming online? If so, links, please!

You goin? Cause I am.

Have fun. I’ll be working the whole time so I won’t see a thing. :frowning:

Probably have to skip it because of visiting family. Maybe I’ll have a party and barbeque and we can all watch it together.

Oh, I hope Richard’s Kid wins! After watching Game On Dude trounce him a couple of times, I have my doubts… But if Garret Gomez can take him around the outside I think he’ll close better. There are sure some nice horses in that race.

My second choice is Fort Larned. Love those Broad Brush horses.

Dreamswept, if you get to visit the barns, give RK a pat for me, okay?

I may or may not have made a Zenyatta-themed shirt, to be accompanied by a headpiece my sister is supposed to be making for me.

I do too!! He really deserves a win, he’s been coming so close the last few times. The barn’s been working him on the inside a little to get him to settle there if that’s the way the break goes. Last work, he was in company with Cinco de Mario and he passed him up with ears forward. Just gotta cross our fingers and chant “Ricardo, c’mon Ricardo!”

Don’t think we’ll be back at the barns till Sunday. Friday and Saturday are probably gonna be a madhouse. But I did go and see the horses when we went to the CalCup a few weeks ago and took pictures and gave horse love. Ricardo is such a lovebug. He got lots of kisses on the nose. He’s got a very gentlemanly personality. But if I can visit Sunday, I’ll be sure to do that for ya.

HA! Will be watching for you. Haven’t seen you guys since… gosh, Zenyatta was still racing.

In other news, the East Coast based horses who still haven’t left New York for California yet might find things a bit touch-and-go with Hurricane Sandy trying to bog 'em down at Big Sandy.

So, is Ricardo his barn name?

I hope his new owners promote him a little. He needs a little help because he doesn’t have that flashy charisma that others have. He doesn’t look flashy because he’s a solid bay, he doesn’t act flashy in public because he has a catlike, business-like walk and doesn’t misbehave or do any aerials in the paddock, and his past owners haven’t promoted or advertised him, at least not that I could tell. The only thing exciting about him is his style of running, and when he wins, it is always exciting.

The more I hear about him, the more he seems like the ideal racehorse. He behaves well, he stays sound, he tries hard, and he earns a lot of money.

This would’ve been the perfect year for Say Florida Sandy to have run

As of Friday, there were 21 Breeders’ Cup horses based at Belmont Park, though one, Upgrade, was scheduled to ship via FedEx Saturday. The remaining 20 were booked to leave on Tex Sutton flights from MacArthur Airport in Islip, N.Y

Tex Sutton cited they could move the pick-up from LI to slightly Upstate with Newburgh Airport. Worse case I’d think they could haul up to Albany and have even less impact from the rains/winds.

Breeders’ Cup Releases Free iPhone and iPad App for 2012 World Championships

The Official 2012 Breeders’ Cup app will allow iPhone and iPad users to watch all 15 Breeders’ Cup World Championship races live and for free, as the world’s top Thoroughbreds compete for more than $25 million in purses. New this year, a live radio stream of all races will be available in the app, courtesy of Horse Racing Radio Network (HRRN).

The app is now available for download in the iTunes App Store or by visiting
www.BreedersCup.com/App

They have a youtube page for the BC Championships

http://www.youtube.com/bcworldchampionships

NBC Sports BC page for preview segments and lead up coverage

All that said, I cannot find mention of NBC streaming video on-line to computers (vs. the above for iphones) whereas last year ABC/ESPN did allow for free-on line video if you were a Comcast customer (for example) and able to get onto their ESPN360.

Lotsa people call him that around the barn. I don’t know if it’s officially his barn name, but it seems to be an apt nickname.

Thanks, GG.

At the very least, I can probably watch the races after they’ve run, on BloodHorse.com

The plane carrying Royal Delta and the rest of Mott’s runners left very early Tuesday, and I just saw something about it landing here in CA. Pletcher’s horses are supposed to leave tomorrow… might be delayed.

And Royal Delta confirmed for Ladies Classic
