2012 Breeders Cup

Animal Kingdom certainly looks great. His work at Keeneland was outstanding and he looks magnificent at SA. He’s really matured and he looks fantastic. He will get some attention in the PP.

The Euros - save for the Irish - are already in California:

Three flights carrying 16 horses based in England, Ireland, and France arrived without incident on Saturday at Santa Anita.

The first group in, traveling on a private charter, included the horses associated with the ruling family of Dubai. Next came a plane with other horses from England and Ireland, and finally the four horses, all fillies, that traveled from France.

Yet to ship overseas are the Breeders’ Cup entrants trained in Ireland by Aidan O’Brien. [He’ll have either 8 or 9 runners] Their flight is due to arrive late Monday night, and those horses probably won’t be able to train until Thursday. O’Brien, though, typically ships his stock internationally as late as possible, and horses having two days of moderate training over the local track is routine for his outfit.

Word is Tuesday’s flight is canceled. Will try to fly Wed.

This is the flight with Pletcher’s horses. Shanghai Bobby, Kuai Katie, etc. and Mucho Macho Man is on the same flight.

Sure hope they can make it to CA one way or another although its looking dicey.

I’d be a bit shocked if Wed looks any better they way it’s been portrayed.

Dumb question but it’s not like Sandy appeared out of nowhere so why didn’t those in charge look at the logistics and risk more closely? The Euros obviously got their act together and are already tanning out in Cali

Per HRTV, Bill Mott and a few other trainers caught the last possible flight out of Albany NY for Los Angeles today.

PVal has at least one mount for the BC - he was listed on a JV Sprint runner.

Did the horses from the East make it out? I can’t believe they would have waited with this storm…frankly I think if the horses have not yet left they may be SOL.

According to Shanghai Bobby’s tweet 6-hrs ago he’s flying out Wed.

I’m curious - in the JV Turf there is this entry:

PP. 12 I’M BOUNDTOSCORE Troy Rankin (trainer) Sarah Rook (jockey)

Anyone know the back story on the horse and jockey?

The horses currently stuck in NY are no slouches - if they don’t get there it will be krazy!

A final Tex Sutton Forwarding charter flight was tentatively scheduled for some time Tuesday with a full load of major contenders based in New York and Kentucky, but has reportedly been canceled and rescheduled for Wednesday.

Trainers with horses booked on this flight from New York include Todd Pletcher (Dreaming of Julia, Kauai Katie, Turbulent Descent, and Shanghai Bobby), Tom Albertrani (Brilliant Speed and Belle of the Hall), Kathy Ritvo (Mucho Macho Man), Tony Dutrow (Grace Hall) and Barclay Tagg (Jersey Town) from New York. The flight will then stop in Louisville to pick up Wise Dan for trainer Charles Lopresti and Fort Larned for trainer Ian Wilkes before proceeding on to Los Angeles.

I worked for Mike Trombetta this summer and will probably exercise ride for him this coming summer, so im pretty much obligated to cheer for NEXT QUESTION!! :3 he’s an awesome, adorable sweetheart of a boy anyhow, so that makes it even better. I can’t remember which race he is in at the moment… but cheer for him!

I’m glad Mott and Shug and Brown et al were able to get their horses out of New York before all hell broke loose, but what were Pletcher and the other trainers flying out Tuesday thinking? I know it’s better for horses to be in their familiar surroundings and all, but they knew this thing was coming. But even still, some East Coast horses have been out here for weeks getting used to the track, why didn’t they plan to ship them out like… last Friday and give the horses a full week here.

Flight with NY #BC2012 runners including Shanghai Bobby, Mucho Macho Man, arrived in Louisville 9:58am ET to pick up Wise Dan, Fort Larned

Last group is on their way. Not gonna have much of a chance to get out on the track though before the races. Well, maybe tomorrow, and Friday (and Saturday for the Sat. runners)

People likely saw this on SB - Coolmore Stud have purchased a 50% interest in the unbeaten Shanghai Bobby

Talk about bad timing with the Breeders’ Cup: The Daily Racing Form’s website was experiencing outages on Tuesday because of the impact of the super storm Sandy, according to an email sent out by the organization.

I still could not access it this morning. This is one of those bread-and-butter racing events that make them a mint from on-line tools and the like.

Stiill down

What a disaster for them! You can print the program for the BC races from www.breederscup.com

Look at entries, and note the link where you can download.
It’s free.

Nereid withdrawn from F&M Turf

Man, the DRF really cannot catch a break … still not on line via their normal web address. [They’re limping along via twitter and then their articles are being provided via their tumblr site – what’s next putting race charts on the pinterest site? :D]

Anyhow more bad news for them on the eve of the BC and also Friday’s opening of Aqueduct: tweet: no print edition on the East Coast:

Update on East Coast newspapers: The site that prints DRF for the East, based in NJ, does not have power and was unable to print.

And that’s why you don’t concentrate all you efforts in one geographical region. Disaster control and diversity is key.

So who do you like for today’s races at the BC? Royal Delta to win the Distaff, err I mean “Ladies Classic”?

I like My Miss Aurelia or Awesome Feather…gosh this is one stacked race!

Very deep and difficult to handicap.

Here is the latest entrie with scratches factored:

Not going this time, but I will be glued to my TV for sure! Not betting, but I’m looking forward to seeing Royal Delta and My Miss Aurelia run in the Ladies’, Shanghai Bobby in the Juvenile, and Trinniberg in the sprint. I have no clue for the classic and can’t choose!
