2016 Belmont Stakes winner . . .

Suddenbreakingnews. I had a dream that all three TC races are won by a different colt. Have to like Brody Cause also. I haven’t had a dream like this in a long time. I mostly have nightmares.

I agree with this…that colt has stamina and a heck of a kick out of nowhere. He was one of my favs for KD. I think he’ll get it…

Most early reports indicate that Nyquist is a possible entry, while Exxagerator is definite. I wish the turf writers would leave out “less interest in the BS because no Triple crown.” They do this G1 race no favors.

I like Exaggerator for the Belmont. It should be an interesting race, the distance alone always makes it my favorite one to watch.

Nyquist has spiked a fever so did not ship as planned.

Hope it is nothing too serious and he’ll run. Would like to see a Nyquist/Exaggerator rematch.

SD, I like your dream, I always liked Suddenbreakingnews

I’d like to change that to, “Until one has love a Thoroughbred”.

Fine by me but that’s not what Anatole France said

I’ll take an exacta box on Exaggerator and Creator (assuming he runs). I think Creator ran at least in Arkansas like he doesn’t have distance limitations.

Simply don’t think Nyquist can get 1 1/2. I could easily be wrong, but even when he’s winning, he seems to be tiring, losing margin, and ducking around a lot. I noticed him swerve again in deep stretch in the Preakness.

As a juvenile Nyquist had a pretty significant racing schedule. His derby year started off with late entries but he was challenged. This is a pretty balanced derby crop. A number of good colts for each aptitude. Saratoga is just around the corner. Plenty of big purses that he is capable of winning. I don’t think he loses his value and reputation by skipping the BS.

I would agree. Nyquist is a very nice race horse. Gawd knows I’m not the owner but I’d be thinking at this point of how to best finish out his three year old career and also be thinking if I want a four year old campaign and schedule races accordingly.

I also wouldn’t blame the owners for retiring him at the end of the year. Such a fine line with continuing racing and retiring to the shed. I know I’d be torn between continuing on the track with each race my heart in my mouth that he’d suffer a catastrophic breakdown (and not just because of the lost of breeding $$). Chances are that wouldn’t happen but it might.

I know for me, sitting at home, I hope every single time that gate opens that they all come home safe. It doesn’t always happen. I am also comforted that I see both an ambulance and vet truck follow the horses around the track knowing if there is a catastrophic injury, the length of time the horse suffers is minimal which is far kinder than what many other horses will get.

(Sorry for getting off into the weeds and slightly off topic  ).

Well the winner won’t be Nyquist. He has unfortunately been ruled out due to the fever. That’s the report anyway.

Nyquist definitely out

Confirmed - will go back to California for some R&R once they get his fever under control.

Hope he returns to the East Coast once again this summer.

Maybe a small field for Belmont?

Suddenbreakingnews runs like exaggerator. An amazing closer who likes to hang in the rear. If the racing schedule hasn’t worn down exaggerator, he is my pick. But if he is any bit tired, SBN

Eyes are turning to Brody’s Cause. At his current odds, he has interesting potential for the bettor. One of two dual qualifiers in the field, he can make the distance and though lightly regarded Romans isn’t the type to waste time on a race he can’t win. If he were, he would be named D Wayne Lukas.

Some years ago, maybe 2012, Brisnet ran an article about the Mr. Prospector line colts proclivity for winning the third jewel. Something like 14 wins out 17 previous races. Don’t see that in 2016, but if you are looking for a price, who knows. Need to search the pedigrees, can’t recall if Mr P sire line colt is projected for this short field.

I don’t like Exxagerator at the moment. Based solely on my dream.

And per the Bloodhorse, SBN is now officially a ridgling. Neither descended, discovered when it was thought originally he’d been gelded but the actual gelding surgery never happened.

Sounds like no action at this point and they don’t think the current state is bothering SBN as he runs.

Well as far as a stud career, he will be in good company. Don’t want to speculate on how it effects his running. I am just to polite for that. Connections probably breathing some relief that gelding reports are in error.

I had a bad dream the other night that Suddenbreakingnews’ excercise rider at Belmont Park is Dale Romans. That is really a nightmare. That’s race fixing, isn’t it?

Stud career… if neither is descended, would he be pretty infertile??? Sounded like from the Bloodhorse article that the little swimmers might be too warm to be very viable…

:o Missed that on first read. Thanks for getting me straight. Thinking of Summer Squall and AP Indy, which considering the poor little swimmers . . . well . . . let’s hope he stays sound in other areas.

Yeah. And sounds like they are not hopeful that either will descend.

Still think he’s a nice horse and looking forward to his performance in a few weeks
