Rather than a thread for every race.
Distaff just lost, IMO, a little shine today with the retirement of Cavorting and Cathryn Sophia dropping out (high white blood cell count).
Was almost looking forward more to the Distaff than the Classic

I still think that the Distaff is the race of the weekend. You have the reigning 2yo, 3yo and older female champs in it. Plus four other Grade 1 winners and a G2 winner. And thatās just off the Breedersā Cup contender page (that usually doesnāt have every single horse in a race).
If Frosted goes to the Dirt Mile instead of the Classic, I actually think the Classic might be the boringest of the week competition-wise if Chrome comes in on his A-Game.
Distaff will most definitely be the highlight of the Breedersā Cup. The mystery to be solved though will be - who the heck is going to be 3yo colt of the year!

Whoever gets closest to Chrome in the Classic?
Turf is looking to maybe be the most exciting for me. (Distaff? Songbird is looking like the logical favoriteā¦)

With all the retirements over the last week, whoever makes it to the Classic might be 3yo champ just as an award for making it. (Half-way kidding here)

You may be half-way kidding, but you also may be on to something!

I think Nyquist is probably in the lead for it but if Arrogate runs big (if he makes it, heās a duct tape-type horse, it seems) he may be able to sneak it away if Nyquist puts in another stinker.
Looks like Iāll be waiting a few weeks until most of the defections are in and then see whoās left for the various racesā¦
Sigh.

Beyond the distaff, the BC turf maybe the most interesting of the meet. That is if you can make a case in your handicapping for CC to finish off the board in the classic.
All I need is the turf to not favor speed or for the extra quarter mile to slow them down at the end. But then I just need a top five finish to break even and anything better is a profit, and with our closing kick thatās possible.
Breeders Cup is almost here!!
I have tickets, although it looks like thereās a pretty good possibility that I wonāt be going, and will instead be spending both days at the bedside of my friend/mentor/horsey āauntā so we can stream it on my iPad since sheās in the hospital.
I was so looking forward to being able to take pictures. Gotta root for some of our California-based favorites.
Found to the BC Classic, or BC Turf.
Keen Ice to the Classic.
I donāt think sheāll go to the Classic but it will be interesting to see the Arc winner take on the Dubai World Cup/Derby/Preakness winner if she does go.
Arrogate is interesting conversation. Polarizing is the word used in this handicapping article. I am not sure what that means but I donāt think his record setting late bloom is either freaky or a splash in the pan. Be interesting to see the morning line.
I love Found, and would like to see her in the Turf.
Found⦠Iād personally rather see her in the Turf than the Classic.
Just not convinced that putting her on the dirt and with the company sheād face, mostly CC, that would be the best option for her.
I think it comes down to Highland Reel re: if Found goes in the Classic or Turf (or comes at all). They are really focused on him in the Turf and I think if heās training lights out, they keep her out of it because sheās better than him but if heās just training eh, they put her in as a safety net for a Coolmore win.
Regarding Found, would the race that is picked for her depend on the condition of the turf? Iām not sure if she has a preference for the ground being soft or firm.
Iād be more than happy to see her in the Classic. But I canāt imagine theyād actually do itātry dirt, sure, she has literally nothing to prove on grass, but her first shot the Classic against a peak-form California Chrome? Eek. (Stillā¦go for it! One fewer entry in the Turf!)
