Oh my, thankfully everyone (man and beast) seems OK…
I can’t see/get anything. ANYWHERE
Damn you, AP for being so popular & my pick even as a 2yo!!
Now, see what you’ve done, you silly excellent horse, you!
I could really do without the Peacock Paddock. That weird gay dude and his My Little Pony hat are getting on my nerves.
The “weird gay dude” is Johnny Weir, an Olympic ice skater. Doesn’t make him less weird or less annoying but he was an athletes at the highest levels.
Glad to see neither horse or jockey involved in the spill look too bad off.
Hopefully they all cool out well.

The presence of both those idiots demeans the race and demeans the sport.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTWrGNka-ik This doesn’t work for you?

I know nothing about racing but I like to watch. I’m a sucker for greys so, Mohaymen, Creator and Lani. I don’t like Nyquist’s name. Reminds me of Nyquil.[/QUOTE]
If it’s gray, I’m betting it. So far, I’m way in the tank.
Holy cats look at the size of that field…
Why yes, it has only just dawned on me this race is in about five minutes.
So why are all these non-horse sports people on this broadcast?

He might be a great skater but he knows zip about racing and adds nothing to the coverage. Neither does his female cohort. I like some coverage of the Derby culture but they are ridiculous.
Interesting that Lani is so difficult. I’d be interested to hear descriptions/ see examples of his behavior. Exactly what he does, not just that he is disruptive and difficult. I have read that he works only when he feels like it…

I was wondering about him too.
Is there a delay in post time? I read 6:34 eastern, but at 6:40 Nyquist is in his stall with no tack in sight and the drone footage does not show the starting gate on the track?

I think I read that he screams and causes a ruckus when he sees the other horses. The article didn’t say if/how far he tends to escalate after that. Apparently he also has gate issues.
I’ve read that he “bellows” at other horses and is “disruptive”. It would be interesting to know more. A look at his breeding shows a few bad actors on dam’s side. No more than some others that do behave though…
I loathe the ‘extras’ they have on almost all sports coverage now. They do this stunt interview routine in the Olympics, and all of the big horse races. It’s a big reason I no longer watch very much of the preliminaries leading up to the Triple Crown races, and barely watch any of the Olympics that NBC Sports covers.
I could do without a bunch of pointless, silly pseudo interviews. I am sad that the race and other coverage takes time away from real analysis for time consuming side stuff that never interests me.
From what I’ve gathered he’s aggressive to other horses, squeals and bellers at them. I’ve also heard he can be difficult loading in the gate. He might do better as a geldie.
Almost there!
The horse who hit his head on the flowerbed (Grand Tito) has some seriously bad luck on big race days. He’s the horse who sat down in the gate on the Preakness undercard last year (wih Victor Espinoza onboard!) and had to be scratched. That was equally nasty to watch.
Lani is very studish and often drops and can be five legged and he can be very vocal.
Nyquist wins!
