2022 Kentucky Three Day Event

I missed the rein back as my computer decided to pixilate!

There was a 6 given by the judge at C for that halt.

Ah, I missed that that judge put it in the halt mark–the 6 looked like an 8 on my computer. The other two judges seem to have missed that altogether though.

Michael and Chipmunk’s test was unreal. Standing ovation here in the stadium for them. Chipmunk turned to the crowd with his ears pricked like “All dis for me?”

Just a masterclass.

It wouldn’t be a Kentucky / Land Rover / Rolex thread without me asking 'what are they wearing’ about at least one competitor – who has the scoop on Harbour Pilot’s bridle?? Is that an Antares?

Yes, looks like an Antares. Lovely bridles.

Probably 12 years ago at this point, I cliniced with Boyd and one of the takeaways was “the horse just worked for you, cool down is their time” Seems he still follows his own advice

Am I wrong to think Michy’s ride wasn’t 9 pts better than Boyd’s? It was fabulous, and a bit better, but I do not see 9 pts better. Boyd had the ride of his life.

I gave up and took off this afternoon. I feel rotten from sleeping poorly so I have installed myself on the couch, hooked the laptop to the bigTV for the livestream, and have 3 tabs open on my phone: you guys, the live scoring, and order of go.

Yessss queen.

The leaderboard is now showing Jung at 17.4, so it’s nearly 12 points difference!

Its hard for me to judge because Michi’s test was BEAUTIFUL. Not much to fault there, the horse was a fantastic mover, the test was very accurately ridden and there really weren’t any mistakes that I saw.

Michi’s test is an outlier to me, in that his seems to be one of the only scores that is not a couple points higher than his 6 run average (from the equiratings site)

Editing to add: I don’t feel qualified to comment on the accuracy of the scoring

I do really think it was better, compare the scores side by side. Boyd had a few 6.5s and his collectives were a lot lower. I think his horse carries himself a bit too low and just doesn’t have that extra smoothness. JMO

I like to look at the actual score sheet because it makes the scores easier to understand.

I’m currently on hold with tech support for a work issue. The classical hold music is matching up nicely to the rides, especially the replays.

I find some of the tack choices fascinating. E.g. Landmark’s Monte Carlo who just went had a really, really loose throatlatch. I’m sure there is a good reason for it.

Sweet boy got a rub from a delighted pony clubber… love it

I think thats a glitch.

Chipmunk is uphill, in self-carriage, and carrying his energy to the bridle, showing exceptional concentration, for the entire test. His whole “picture” warrants him about 1 pt higher on most of the movements than most of the others that I’ve seen (I missed Boyd’s so can’t compare there). The harmony score gets a coefficient and those high scores were certainly warranted. I can see how the math led him about this far ahead.

What are they checking the back of the riders boots for?
