Poor Carmango! I wonder what he was startled by?
What a lovely top 3 in this 4* short. Dan has a lot to be proud of!

Oh no! Did Carmango have a rail down? I was so hoping he would win the 4 star.
His FEI record says KWPN
Thanks.
Carmango had 3 rails and 2.8 time. But what a fabulous weekend!
Oh no! Bummer!
I don’t know Dan but wow that was a cool ride. His horse really balked and he finished classy under what must have been enormous pressure. Hard to see if the horse stop moving forward to fence 3 on the screen. I thought no but then he had two rails and stayed a very deserved podium, third? If they counted the ball as a refusal then he would’ve fallen farther.
This was his (and Dan’s) 3rd 4* and Dan has produced him as an imported 4yo in 2017 so just a green moment I assume
DD is there told me Dan was all class riding that line w the spook.
@Dr_Doolittle at the end of the 4* jumping the announcer said they’d be back around 2PM and the junmping would start at 2:15- so a little earlier than the 2:30 time listed.
I think that must have been what happened, because initially he was shown as having only two rails and in third. Within a couple of minutes he had dropped to fourth with 12 faults (not counting time).
Oh no, they marked it as a balk? On camera it looked like he shied vs balking, but the angle of the video wasn’t great. Either way, he rode him very well and has an awful lot to be happy about!!
He has gotten the hard stuff out of the way, now just needs to work on the show jumping phase. According to the COTH article about him he said this was his weakest phase. The horse looks to be a good jumper so I hope this is just a young horse spooky glitch and they will go on to great things. I think the powers that be need to consider him when they hand out developing horse/ rider grants.
I would love to see this more often in the sport!
Anyone watching Stadium? According to online scoring Buck Davidson pulled 7 rails. What the heck happened?
He just hit almost everything and seemed completely unconcerned about it
Nothing dramatic… he just didn’t leave them up.
Horse just wasn’t super careful, maybe tired, it was a pleasant round despite the rails.
OK next question. (Sorry, can’t watch!) What is fence 3 like?
loved the standing ovation for vandiver
