Wow! Did Yasmin’s horse even touch anything?

Just 25 years old…undoubtedly big things ahead for her!

I don’t think he did! And she rode him so cool calm and collected!

No. The horse looked completely unconcerned by having done anything yesterday and went along like it was Pony Club. What a magnificent horse, and a wonderful ride.

I realize this may not be the moment since he just had two rails, but boy, the work Boyd has put into show jumping on this horse has really told over time.

Jung made that inside turn look so easy.

I think Michael Jung is one of the greatest athletes on the world stage in ALL sports, full stop. I wish eventing was better understood outside of our little bubble so others could appreciate him!

So excited for Yasmin Ingham as well!

She has been good for a long time

Yes, absolutely amazing! It was beautiful to watch and Michael’s talent is unparalleled. It was sure fun for Pippa to ride at Kentucky this year too. She’s a class act!

Also congratulations to Doug! What a weekend.

I feel like I have a Land Rover Kentucky “hangover” already LOL. It was such a treat to be able to watch it all via livestream.

Elisa Wallace posted her helmet cam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma6BrWT5hyI

Love that she included her commentary at the end too of what happened.

Jollybo was held this morning - chances are she was stiff and sore and that’s why she pulled so many…

Yes! A good friend of mine, Jeri Matheny from Campbellsburg, KY. She actually evented to 1* (now 2*) but now is focusing on dressage and got her silver medal on that mare last year.

I don’t know why it didn’t quote the whole post asking who did the test ride for the 5* on Thursday.

I’m about 50 minutes into rewatching the replay of the 5* XC because I missed bits and pieces of it yesterday, and from what I can tell, they have cut out EVERY single rider fall from the footage. It’s kind of bizarre because some of them are followed quite closely and then all of a sudden there’s another rider on screen and the commentators are mentioning what a shame it was about so-and-so’s fall and hopefully all is well.

Has USEF Network always cut out ALL falls like this in past years for the replays? I can’t remember. It’s not that I particularly WANT to see the falls… just seems odd and can’t remember them doing this in the past.

In the past, USEF Network showed everything including up to the moment of the fall. I remember showing my husband the replay of Boyd and Thomas’s fall at the end of last year’s course.

Hmm. I haven’t watched the replay, but it seems a little excessive to cut out things like simple rider falls that didn’t result in injury. I can understand cutting out horse falls or horses pulling up lame, not just because they’re unpleasant to watch but especially because sadly “animal lovers” on the internet can be a pretty vicious and self-righteous bunch and have a tendency to go far beyond expressing concern for the horse and discussing what led to the fall/injury constructively, and instead like to just go on the offensive against the riders.

I was just watching what is listed as “Philip’s” cross country round in the 5*, because I hadn’t seen where he had picked up points on cross country. In the middle of that was someone’s pretty hard fall. And I agree with editing out the horse falls, I’m afraid. Too much ammunition for some…

Do you mean they showed the fall? I believe Hannah Sue fell on her first horse while Phillip was on Sea of Clouds, and they aren’t showing that on the full replay. I’m not seeing it on Phillip’s individual feature video either. Again— I don’t necessarily want to see the falls and I get what they are trying to do if it’s to avoid showing the really nasty falls. Just seems odd to completely cut out ALL rider falls like they never even happened, when this hasn’t been their policy in the past. :woman_shrugging:

About 4:59, yes.

They did show some of the less grisly falls (like Starr Witness parting with both Doug Payne and her bridle, and Jessica Phoenix falling off Wabbit and Humble). But I can definitely understand why they would have a unspoken policy of not showing falls where the rider wasn’t able to walk away easily.

It’s not just USEF that doesn’t show falls. Clipmyhorse.tv (Germany) instantly cuts away from show jumping falls.
