2022 Maryland 5* at Fair Hill

So save money and write the contract such that below a certain number only one day will be run. Running these things is too expensive to waste money.

3* has a big field tho so they’re running 2 days anyway

does anyone know where the scores are posted?

You can’t even do that for an Unrecognized event. They give up their day and expect to be compensated.

Is there a livestream of the YEH stuff at all?

Nothing like making your 5* debut in an absolute downpour …well done Zach Brandt

Okay quick Q for anyone who is there in person. How’s the general parking situation with all of the rain, is it a mud hole or is it staying pretty firm? We’re coming down tomorrow AM early and am just deciding if I should bring my (clown) car or if we should bring the truck.

Thanks!

those fields are usually pretty solid even with a good bit of rain- I’ve gotten in and out driving my little Fiat in the rain with no problem

I saw a couple people spinning in general parking, but I honestly think you’ll be fine in the car. It’ll only dry up from here. Also there weren’t too many people parked there today so the field isn’t too churned up.

Earlier today Tamie was ahead of Liz in the 5*. Now the results show Liz ahead of Tamie. Anyone know why?

Her score was under review for the final change. He changed behind early, changed back, then did a nice change. One of the judges missed the early mishaps and the difference between judges triggered a review.

I miss the two owl hole fences from last year. Also, call me cranky, but I hate xc courses that have an ā€˜arena eventing’ break in the midst of the course. Especially when there’s plenty of available space. I don’t mind arena jumps at the end, but I think it’s stupid in the middle.

Interesting… I didn’t know that’s a thing that could happen! I always thought if a judge somehow missed a bad moment, or didn’t see it well enough from their vantage point to penalize it, it was just a lucky break for that rider. I didn’t know they could go back, replay it, and change the score.

Very muddy! Ground is super soft, poured buckets today and not over yet.

It’s only if there is a 3 point difference in the changes. New-ish rule.

Fences 20 and 21, the big corners in the water, look frightening to me…

You have to remember they are running the 3* and also allow time to drag the rings between x number of riders. I’ve been to Badminton and Burghley and even those don’t draw huge crowds on Thursdays, always more on Friday and mob scene on XC day.

ā€œJustā€ frog pain? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Is it normal to be confused why anyone might present a horse in pain at any competition, let alone a 5*, and hope it passes the jury and run it when it’s in pain? What am I missing?

I don’t know how I feel about that rule. For me, it feels a little wrong for judges to be able to pull up a replay to reassess. Things, both good and bad, get missed often by judges because of where they are positioned. It’s why there are multiple judges at this level.
