I won’t be up there in time for the 11 a.m. course walk. C’mon, EN, send out the deets for your afternoon one! (Or did it already go out, and I’m just not one of the chosen ones?)
Right?!? I was thinking the same thing. I won’t make 11 am either.
Hope to see you there!
It’s a gorgeous day at fair hill today! Those on site should stop by the young event horse jumping. Not many here and we’re much closer to dressage.
She clarified it more here: https://eventingnation.com/woods-baughman-leads-maryland-5-star-in-the-downpour-on-day-one/
“Liz had an unexpected departure from the competition with her other ride, Deniro Z , who was not accepted by the Ground Jury at the first horse inspection yesterday. “He’s sore in his frog,” she said, explaining that the lameness didn’t show up until the gelding had trotted up on hard ground. “It’s just extremely bad timing. I had no idea that was even happening because he has been completely sound on the soft. So it was as much a shock to us as anything, which is really unfortunate.”
It’s really tough sometimes with these older campaigners to manage them. Like when Wembley (with Tamie Smith) had foot problems on the way to Badminton jogs and never really competed again. You’re always questioning if you are doing the right thing for them. Are they just stiff in the morning or are they actually lame?I know Liz does the absolute most for her horses with vet care, farrier work, body work etc.
I know! Frog pain, only the lifeline of the equine!
This horse has repeatedly missed events because of his foot issues. I think he needs some rest time. Of course coming from a lowly amateur. But he has shoes and pads so not sure how the hard ground can be blamed for his frog unless he has a massive frog that still touches the pavement.
Scoring question – why do some of the riders with errors have a “1” next to their score and others have a “2” on the results? Also wondering what Lillian’s error was??
I’m only half watching but I think she missed a half pass and went into the stretch circle early
I am in love with Ryan Woods’ game little chestnut Thoroughbred. I know his score wasn’t the best and his gaits were kind of choppy, but what a lovely obedient and happy horse.
I liked him too! Very obedient. Ryan did a good job with him.
Missed it. Any idea on the horses JC name?

Chusinmyconfession! Very JC for a name!
Yeah, y’all sent your big storm up to New England. It’s wretched up here right now. Lots of power outages; we were out for 6 hours because a big tree fell across a main road and took down the lines. Traffic on the main road was diverted to our street.
thank you!

Yeh, and more rain coming Monday apparently…where was this rain during the summer!
General parking area is fine. They’ve blocked off the muddy spot at the entrance.
Shout out to 5* rider Emily Hamel who volunteered Thursday
I really enjoyed the 4 year old YEH class. Such good horses under awful conditions weather wise
¹) Errors of course ²) Other errors
Lillian; probably to do with the simple change. Maybe did a flyer/disunited/combobulation !
