A bunch of riders are getting errors for coming into the ring late, which I think caught Lillian. But there were a few that missed movements, one forgot the stretchy circle, one didn’t do the half pass, etc.
I’m having issues too, and I was worried it was just me because I’m having some internet issues today. Looks like it’s not me!
Mine is back. Try refreshing and playing again.
I’m also back - thanks!
This is just my smurf impression having read many “PR” notes about horse athletes and unsoundness. It appears UL riders are very guarded with providing definitive diagnosis to the public. The poster above that said they felt as if they spun the wheel on four predictive answers is right. There is a trend to go with a universally understood transient lameness like abscess/heel pain/frog pain. These are easily fixable, short term, and in the public’s eye, don’t cause the same outcry that a soft tissue injury would with Joe Public.
I agree with you about this particular horse. He’s had a few incidents like this so far.
When I was prepping for the move up to Prelim that never happened due to my horse’s passing, my guy, who was tough as nails the entire time I owned him, became foot sore after increased road & track exposure. So, on a basic level I can understand its possible these UL horses have residual foot pain from the sheer workload/concussion they see galloping these massive courses and doing gallop sets.
Yep I got in around 9:30 and my tiny car zipped right in no problem, the ground still felt nice and firm
Some of the grass in the venue is soggy/muddy but we wore boots so it’s no big deal.
Oh love this name!
The VIP parking is far worse than the general parking. My car had no trouble either in general parking.
It is really boggy on the grounds. I wore sneakers because I knew I’d be walking a lot today; not a great choice in hindsight.
Me too!
I really enjoyed Kyle Carter’s commentary.Very fair and insightful.
Me too! So fun to have the riders as guest commentators. I am thoroughly enjoying this so far.
Fair Hill Saddlery will be hosting the course walk with Fylicia Barr at 2pm today live on their Facebook page! I’m pretty sure there will be giveaway, comment on the Facebook live event to enter!
I’ve been out of the loop for a long time. The 3 star is being called the long format. Is this the olden days long format?
No, this is a longer harder version of the short format. Just kept the name, keeping it super not confusing haha
Also not sure how long you have been away but 3* is the old 2* now also.
Thanks.
I believe this current iteration of long/short replaced the former CCI vs CIC?
Yes forgot about that haha
Doug Payne just had a gorgeous test…wow!
oh my poor Harry. Superstition was a bit wild…good job on him keeping it together.
The psychology of the jog just confounds me. If you were a rider with a horse entered at a 5* and the horse did most or all of his prep on soft ground, wouldn’t you trot the horse on hard ground a day or so before the jog and see if anything seems off? Particularly if the horse has had hoof issues? I realize that rarely an abscess really does present on the way to the jog, and I also realize that many lamenesses are subtle. However, I have a hard time with the idea that an upper level rider with lots of experience on lots of horses wouldn’t notice “frog pain” affecting a horse to the degree that it might be questioned by the ground jury. In that situation, isn’t it a better look for the rider to withdraw the horse rather than risk being spun? As I said, the psychology of it just confounds me, but I am only a fan and have no inside knowledge or actual experience of international competition.
