2023 Breeders Cup

Oh my god. I just heard about Cody Dorman. Speechless.

Fly high, Cody. May you reunite with your colt again some day.

The news about Cody Dorman moved me to tears. What a story. What a life.

I certainly hope not, but it left a bad taste in my mouth that the original trainer was suspended and they went right to him. I am only a watcher of the major race days, and have no insider information. Just on this thread, I have learned that his horses are impeccably cared for, which I did not know.

I am aware that you have a much greater depth of knowledge regarding the subject, but this is how it felt to me, as a person who reads a great deal about the history of the sport and loves to watch horse racing, but is not involved in any way and does not know the character of this man.

Saffie wasn’t suspended due to bad tests or the like, he was suspended out of an abundance of caution when he had two seemingly inexplicable deaths and they wanted to make sure the other horses weren’t at risk. Once they found nothing they dropped the suspension.

Just want to point out there are two Dutrow brothers training racehorses, Rick and Tony, who operate completely separate operations. Be sure to be clear which one you read or hear about.

In the meantime, White Abarrio needed a trainer. I obviously wasn’t privy to what conversations took place between the owners and Joseph, but we can’t assume the change was made due to lack of trust.

Any guesses what these BC competitors will bring?

Breeders’ Cup Contenders Head to the Sales Ring - BloodHorse

Was Search Results a My RaceHorse offering at one time ?

Not as far as I’m aware of. They do own Search Engine, a full sibling.

Oh, that’s the horse I was thinking of. Thanks!

Apparently, PETA (yeah, I know) is asking about the whereabouts and condition of a horse named “Bus Buzz”, who ran at the BC on Friday. Does anyone know? I mean, I am not advocating for PETA, but it is an interesting question.

I was unable to watch the Breeders Cup live, so I had to settle with the replays. I cried tears of joy when I saw in my facebook newsfeed that Cody had won. Watched the replay and immediately got body chills watching him make his move on the turn.

Cody’s Wish ran that race like Cody Dorman lived his life. Rising from the back of the pack and fighting until the very end. Bless both of them.

And Bless Bill Mott and all of the horses’ connections for allowing Cody and Cody to continue to be together these last few years. They took a Make a Wish grant and took his entire connections on the ride of a lifetime. The true magic of horses on the world stage. The term “special” cannot sum this up.

Cody Dorman now has endless angel rides on the back of his favorite horse for all of eternity. I hope his family finds comfort that despite his life was short, it was lived to the absolute fullest and a small piece of Cody Dorman will remain with this treasured horse that they can visit and maybe even have the opportunity to own one of his offspring.

Their story changed all of us just a little bit and it’s not over yet.

I sure hope the votes go to the horse with the best racing year.

Sometimes it needs go beyond race results though. IMHO. For the good of the sport.
