2023 Maclay Finals Discussion Thread

IIRC it was sponsored by Marco Rubio, so although I don’t recall the details of the proposal, what you say would not surprise me.

I forget now which way it went, but I seem to remember reading at the time that all the experts thought it should be one way, but the bill was written for it to go the other way regarding which time to stick with permanently.

I remember that too, but I also remember thinking that the expert recommendation was written by people who obviously lived farther south because staying on standard time year round would majorly suck for us northerners. Who wants it to get dark at 4pm ever smh

I personally love daylight savings, but one way or another, it’s no big deal. Anyway, back on topic, is there anyone besides me that is disappointed we can’t watch the Saturday “warm up”. It’s been televised in past year but now… blackout. Somehow, they believe no one is interested.

I’m disappointed I can’t watch the warm up either…

I saw that and said, “The Holy Mother of Equitation Gods has heard our prayers!” I am finishing fencing a pasture tomorrow and really need to ride with the precious gift of gorgeous weekend weather, so this new app will help me stay in top of things. I’ll be tuning in for the second round, though!

I am planning to watch the first two hours of the class. Then I will have to pay attention to the show I will actually be attending in person. Lol.

But hopefully I will be able to get done there in time to catch the second round on the live stream from Kentucky. :crossed_fingers::four_leaf_clover::crossed_fingers::four_leaf_clover::crossed_fingers:

I’m going to have to step out for about 2 hours midway, so I’m also looking forward to catching up on the scoring!

Who are the judges this year? Who is the course designer?

Judging panel: Rachel Kennedy, Wendy Peralta, Tammy Provost, and Danny Robertshaw

Course designer: Bobby Murphy

Thank you!

Bobby usually posts some little sneak peek preview videos on Facebook, although I have not looked for them yet.

Rooting for Noah Nelson - he made the step from ponies to horses on my Louie Louie, and it’s so exciting to see him having such a great year-end run.

He had a phenomenal Medal Final and has a really beautiful style. I enjoyed watching him.

Really talented rider.

I will be interested to see the girl who went first at Harrisburg and had a beautiful round. I think she goes around 46th in the order. I hope she has a good day, and I hope I get to see it.

Bobby Murphy posted this picture, so whatever this jump is supposed to be, I imagine we will see it in the ring today.

Thanks for the link!

Green seems to be the prevalent color of the day.

I have to say this jump is messing with my brain. I realize it’s so that the word will show up correctly in photographs taken from the landing side, but still. Lol.

Here’s the course for anyone who does not do Instagram. The logistics person in me wonders what time they started setting that course and how many people were in the jump crew to get it done in whatever amount of time was available. Lol.

It looks beautiful.
