Memo to the horses today.
It’s a big ring. It is decorated in a very fancy and intimidating way. I can imagine you have feelings about it.
Hold those feelings inside your heart. Do not pick them up with your front feet. It is behavior unbecoming of an athlete.

Am I remembering correctly there was a year where sun shining through the building into the ring later in the day made things a little dicey?
I don’t think there are too many spots in that ring where the sun could actually shine in from outside. And if there are, I feel like they have probably been fixed with those black drapes that you can see up at the concourse level in the stands.
At the opposite end of the ring from the ingate, there are glass doors that go outside at the concourse level, so I guess the sun could come in that way if they don’t have the drapes up on that end.
I feel like it was the first or second year it was at Kentucky. A couple in the afternoon group demonstrated some unusual behavior.
Yeah, that timing sounds right.
The horses are beautifully turned out.
Wow, how does anyone have time to ride enough to get to the Maclay Finals and compete in figure skating at the same time?
A couple of these kids are multi-sport athletes and I would like to know how those family logistics are managed, particularly for the ones who are not old enough to drive.
Yeah, figure skating takes a lot of travel doesn’t it?
A couple of these kids are also running track or cross-country. I tried to do that in high school and I couldn’t do both, even after I was able to drive my own self. Not and also get my homework done. I stopped running after my freshman year.
Kate Hagerty had a beautiful ride but just rubbed that dang vertical at the end of the S line. Hope she makes it back for the second round.
I feel like we got into the doldrums a bit in this group, but Kate Hagerty pulls us out of it at the last minute with a workmanlike round. I love that horse.
If Kate’s horse goes missing, it wasn’t me. The expression, the versatility, the skunk tail… In love.
She had a beautiful trip. As usual, I think.
I missed some rides. How did JJ Torano do?

Looks like they dinged Sydney for that swap which is a shame. Glad to see Kate right up there in 8th.
He goes 170th, so just about at the very end. He could have walked the course this morning and then got back to bed for several hours, although I don’t know if he actually did that. Lol.
