2024 Maclay Final Thread

Grace Russo had a nice round.

Refreshed in time to see her do the five to six S-line. Beautiful. Deliberate is perfect word.

It was Cent and yes, he did. I love that horse.

They’re probably doing minimum viable service, which is one camera, while they get the entire affair back online. (Insert joke about CMH and “minimum viable.”) I really liked seeing the whole thing from one angle- I hadn’t gotten to see 2-3ab-4-5 from that camera angle previously in the class so it was good to get a different read on how that rode.

The last time the camera angles changed was when I first realized that a couple of the macarons on the Paris cookie standards had bites taken out of them. Lol.

I missed the rail in Grace Russo’s round.

It was Finnick. He’s still hungry from that prize-giving a few years ago, and he needed a little snack.

Either the jump crew is fast as lightning or it was a hard rub but no rail. I heard a hoof on it and thought I saw the rail go down, but the next time that fence was on camera, the rail was right back up.

Was he the one who came close to destroying the prize table?

They are pretty darn quick. When I was there watching in person earlier in the week, they were really getting their steps in, and they were fast about it.

I don’t know that “destroying” was the word he would have used. He was definitely investigating any possible source of a treat, because he knows his worth.

Very nice round by Adriana Forte.

I keep almost calling her Amanda Forte, but that’s about two previous generations of equitation riders ago by now.

Adriana Forte laying it down. May move to top for me.

Didn’t he get the a bit of the table cloth in his mouth?

Adriana Forte should go right up into that standby. I love the way she uses her weight aid- as tall as she is, it would be very easy to make it obvious, but she’s so subtle. If I’m being picky, she was a little under the distance in a couple of places to the oxers and I would have liked a titch less or more out of the turn to make the jumps come up out of stride so as not to risk the front rail.

Like I said, he was investigating every possibility. The people were taking too long.

He also ate a mum, or at least made a very good try. I remember this because the next year the flowers at the prize table were not toxic to horses.

She looked a bit dead to 3A, but that could have been the camera angle. She’s a very elegant rider and I like her better on the chestnut than the gray. I always felt like her reins were too long on the gray.

Yes, they’re a wonderful pair. You can tell they’re good friends.

I keep looking at the LA jump wondering what it would look like with the pink side of the rails over the yellow wall and yellow parts of the rails over the pink wall.

If Justify goes missing, it definitely wasn’t me who stole him, so don’t look in my barn. I just want to squeeze that little face and feed him cookies.
