2024 Maclay Final Thread

I have read through the threads before, but this was my first time watching live while reading. Thanks for the entertaining and insightful commentary today!

It’s too bad they’re too young for champagne…

Bring on the sparkling cider!

Hey, look at that. It looks like they already have a wooden base with extra nameplate space for the trophy.

Andre, look happy man. Your kid came from out of no where in the last two years to nail these finals.

Coincidentally, Adriana’s hometown has been in the news this week because they had the first murder there in 180 years or something like that.

Just as a matter of nuts and bolts, I wonder if they print out all those name tags in advance, just in case. Or if they wait until they know the top 10, or how that works. Lol.

I was wondering the same thing. Technology these days works wonders.

I remember being at the Maclay at Syracuse when Jessica Springsteen won and her parents came out for the family picture!

Her parents were always involved, even when she was showing ponies.

I can actually answer that, because I’ve had to do that in my day job for press conferences. They probably print out everyone who gets into the 2nd round. If you leave it too late, your printer will do this: https://www.tiktok.com/@juliestory/video/7286847244433689887?lang=en

I was there!

In fact, I walked right past her parents and said congratulations as they were headed down for the presentation.

Lol!!!

Yes, I remember the first time I ever saw him at a horse show was when she was at the pony ring at WEF.

And he was walking towards me with a Jack Russell that was being so naughty that I almost didn’t notice the person holding the other end of the leash.

I have to say that for the most part, the live stream worked extremely well today. There were just a few brief pauses, but they were quickly resolved.

And I never had any headaches about signing in, which was a very pleasant change.

I’ve never seen them bothered at a show until Jessica was jumping in Europe. I think it was in Ireland at a Grand Prix and some of the press were following them out of the stands, which was too bad.

After all, Jessica has a good horse show Dad and Mom that just happen to be musicians.

It was nice wasn’t it? Thank you NHS. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve never seen them bothered at a show in this country. And I’ve never seen anybody around them who looked like security, either.

They ate dinner at a table right behind us in a restaurant at Lake Placid one year just like all the other horse show people in the place.

I will say I remember seeing Bruce one time when he looked like he was wearing camouflage to blend in, since anyone might have thought he was there to empty the trash cans after the last class of the day. But I guess it worked for him.

I’ve always figured that most horse people are just so oblivious to the rest of the world that they probably don’t notice people in their midst who are famous for anything other than horses.

I grew up in an area where many celebrities lived (we were not celebrities) and was told by my parents that just because you’ve see them in the movies or on TV, or you listen to their music, doesn’t mean that you know them, and you treat them just like any other adult that you don’t know, which meant that you left them alone to live their lives and didn’t approach them.
