I’m not paying for ad free but have premium and this is absolutely the most annoying ad experience I’ve maybe ever had, both watching live and trying to re-watch the early sessions.
Tbh I thought it was better than Michael’s test. Really cool that he’s leasing the horse from Ben Hobday! I didn’t realize Chris also competes in pure SJ at top level.
I think streaming contracts for live sports often require the streaming service to include ads, even at “ad-free” subscription levels.
Which is annoying, especially since it never seems to be made clear that live sports are exempt from ad-free
Coming late to this, but I highly doubt Will made the decision on his own to sub in Diabolo given this is a team event. Most likely is that everyone involved in managing the team, plus Will, thought that Diabolo was going to be in a better position to put the team in medal contention/put Will in medal contention. There was nothing wrong with Timmy, he’s super reliable, but Diabolo was really peaking at the right time and has that extra sparkle.
I would not at all be surprised by the accusations of the new poster. Disappointing, though, as both Will’s horses were named to the team ahead of Liz for a reason.
Is he leasing the Shadowman? I thought they had to be owed free and clear with an owner of the same nationality as the rider.
I think, reading the US Team Selection rules, that the team might have had Will withdraw Timmy from consideration without discussing the potential of a worse case scenario, I.e., the other horse not being able to go.
So once the second horse was lame, they couldn’t consider Off the Record because he was no longer available for consideration.
I wish they would turn the music off.
and pull the plug on the arena announcements!
This makes sense, and also is a terrible self-inflicted wound by team US.
Somehow it’s allowed. Crazy that it’s only a 6 month lease!
it seems as if no matter how much improvement the Americans get, the Brits and Germans just go up higher!
Some of the choices have been quite cheeky - Chris Burton had instrumental versions of Land Down Under by Men at Work and then Waltzing Matilda. Laura Collett had a Beatles medley I think. I wasn’t really clocking it until it was so obvious with Burto, kind of curious to go back and see if they’ve done it consistently.
I have ad-free peacock and it’s periodically cutting out and giving me “coverage will resume shortly, enjoy a view of the seine river” which is almost as annoying as the ads would be.
I have ad free and the ads recently stopped playing but now doing the “enjoy this view of Seine” right after every ride as they are breaking it down and giving scores they couldn’t wait until after scores are announced at least?
for as difficult as this test is, some of these riders are making it look like child’s play.
nice test from boyd. Too bad about those flying changes. But we are in second!
I’m surprised Boyd’s test scored that well. Boyd looked quite stiff.
for once, I was watching the horse, and not Boyd.
Agreed, that feels pretty generously scored given the changes and tension.
To my armchair eye, he looked quite a bit more nervous than I typically expect to see him (even considering the stage).
Canadians showing their team spirit with 3 nearly equal scores
