2024 Olympics - Eventing

Those are really solid team scores though. Presumably we’ll end up sitting 3rd behind Germany and Britain before XC?

That XC course could really shake things up, especially given how wet its been there.

he didn’t look pleased after the ride either.

He looked stiff and then as a result you could tell Bruno was stiff as well at times. Curious if he was stiff because he knew Bruno was feeling green or if Bruno was reacting to whatever Boyd was feeling. I know Boyd’s been drilling dressage at home hard with Silva for the 5*s and I would guess there is an added internal pressure to do well for Annie.

I thought he looked uncharacteristically nervous and stiff as well and was thinking the same thing. It’s one thing to be representing your country, but to have the added expectation to deliver this big Cinderella story is a lot  I think probably some combo of that and being able to feel Bruno wasn’t 100% with him. Would love to see what either of our ladies would have scored later in the day as the scores seem to have gotten a lot more generous!

Is that horse massive or is Ros just tiny? Or both??

Still need final riders from GB, NZ, and France - think US will be in Top5 after dressage but probably not top 3 with Boyd’s score being a bit disappointing. Never discount the French at the Olympics!

ETA: Looking at Boyd and Bruno’s recent results, it’s not the score that’s disappointing (they got 31.7 at the KY 4*S), it’s that they left points on the table with the changes.

But it’s not a dressage competition.

Here’s Ros!

They need to figure out their audio mixing. Between the music and the arena announcements…. so annoying

What is the pink tape on most riders helmet strap( by their ear) some on left some on right?

I don’t see any pink on Tim.

Wonder if it means the helmet has been inspected and meets international safety standards? That’s what it would mean at the county fair :joy:

but would that mean those without a pink mark are not inspected?

Or they took the tape off?

Yes. Probably from different events or riders chose to remove it.

Or that’s how a specific national organization marks this (I’m thinking maybe BE). Those with out maybe haven’t ridden in that helmet in that organizations shows (and some may have new helmets from their sponsors)

Both the British and Australian federations require annual inspections of helmets. Different color marker each year.

Japanese team into 4th.

I think the Italian team would have been in 3rd had the first horse not been Eliminated

Really a bummer for the Italians with the elimination because all 3 of their tests were lovely.

I’ve read that Peacock sports still have ads, even when you pay for ad free.
