2024 Olympics - Eventing

Lovely round for Alex. I’m just gutted over what happened to him xc I know there was some comment over here that the fence judge running around in front of the jump probably contributed to the error he made.

every time they showed that jump, the jump judge was moving around.

That is crazy! An elimination is an elimination, whether their traveling reserve was already used or not.

I know the lower ranked riders went first, but time is really going to be influential on this course. You really can’t add a stride or take a wider turn anywhere and not have time.

ETA: Jessie showing us it can be done!!

penalty of 200 for the elimination, plus an additional 20 to sub in the reserve rider if the eliminated horse is not fit to show jump.

That horse was very tired. Looked like she should have retired after the second fence.

I’m curious why a team would choose to do that. Is there any benefit to finishing a team when it will be at the bottom?

Haha, I moved about 5 years ago - originally only intending to stay 2 years max. :grimacing:

perhaps a team finish has implications for future funding?

Yeah, that’s the only thing I can think of!

in theory, a team could have a dressage superstar who is not great on XC, and ELECT to take a 20 penalty and sub in a XC/SJ superstar who will go double clear on both jumping phases.

hopefully the rules prohibit that.

If you have 3 fit horses on the final day, why not finish your team? Experience in the atmosphere, and all it takes to get there…

what do they mean…coverage will resume shortly?

Yikes, Jonelle had 3 down according to live scoring.

It was looking so good! Just lost it at the end of the course :slightly_frowning_face:

since almost all have had time, they should have adjusted it I think.

Bummer. I am a huge fan of her!
