Congratulations @BeasFamilyFarms! He looks great.
I think that mare is the surrogate, so not related.
He’s lovely! @BeasFamilyFarms do you have a photo of his dam?
Thank you! Yes this is the sweet surrogate momma pictured with the colt. I believe she is a maiden as well, but thankfully so sweet and docile and took to being a mom right away. She is on loan to us from the owner who lives in Belgium. When we purchased Gin, she came with her two embryos, which were already implanted in surrogates at the time.
Here is our lovely queen giraffe, Gin (not sure when the conf shot was from but she’s put on some weight since then - she did arrive to us a tad on the skinny side).
We have a full udder tonight, she’s acting a little uncomfortable and her vulva is loose and dark inside. I put down straw and I’m on baby watch! I was going to test ph but then realized my strips are expired we will see what the night brings!
Today is Sydney’s 7th birthday, and we’re off to see the wizard, aka the repro specialist, this afternoon. She should (but this is Sydney, so we shall see…) be in heat and ready to breed this week. He is also going to check Arielle and try to figure out what is going on with her.
Photos of the birthday girl, along with her mom Arielle and half sister Addy, for tax. I really wish the gate wasn’t in the way on that second one!
5 am, the filly fairy visited us! Bambi did so good, textbook birth. Filly was a little long to stand but I think her legs are just so long she was having trouble figuring them out. Easter and 4/20 could make some interesting names, feel free to give me some suggestions.
!We even found the hippomane!
Congratulations!
Congratulations! I love the tongue sticking out picture. Are there any naming rules/conventions for her registry? Any sire/dam/pedigree names you want to incorporate?
Bunny would be cute!
How is your senior mare coming along?
She is 296 days today and looking good. She is taking her meds like a champ, even eating the pentoxifylline and Equioxx in her grain, which was a worry. She meets me expectantly and asks for her syringe of SMZ slurry twice a day, too. This from a mare who WILL NOT eat any textured feed or even a pellet with molasses on the outside. Go figure!
I dropped Sydney and Arielle off at the repro center this afternoon. I was halfway home when they called and said I needed to order a collection for Sydney for tomorrow! They checked Arielle and said her uterus and ovaries looked perfectly fine, and they have no idea what my GP vet was seeing last week…
Good news!
Glad to hear it . The oldies are always worrying to me.
Our registry’s rules are no longer than 25 spaces, and our prefix is 4 characters long. I don’t really have any names I feel the need to incorporate from her pedigree, but this is her if anyone can come up with something.
As of right now I am liking Resurrection for a registered name and Risen for a barn name. Also thought about Up In Smoke for a reg name but that may be a little too on the nose and feels unoriginal to me although it did make my husband laugh.
Baby is doing well, however, I always get nervous with a fresh one because it seems so much can go wrong so fast. She has her sire’s beautiful dainty head which is a relief because Bambi is a bit coarse in the face.
Hmmm, yeah that pedigree is tough to work with name-wise. I thought about
Alleluia
Easter Parade
Easter Sunday
Easter Lily
New Dawn
Morning, Sunshine! ( Just struck me as funny )
Sunrise Service
Sunrise Surprise
Dawn Debut
Alabama Dawn
Bambina
I like Resurrection, with Lilly as the barn name. As in, after resurrection lillies:
