2025 Foal Watch

I love her dam side! All that Whipporwill in there. Does your mare usually have black foals with her JMF topside?

I’m no good with names and generally prefer human names for mine, but I’m sure you’ll get good suggestions.

Congrats on your foal! We have born-on-Easter filly twins - ours was born about 10pm Easter evening. And you are right on the names LOL…we originally thought ours was a colt so my husband immediately said his barn name should be “Snoop” :joy:

@MorganMaresVT Her previous foals have been black when bred to a black sire, however, we know she is not homozygous because the filly she had for her first owner was a palomino. This is her second foal for us, and we retained the first. She is such a sweet mare and is a wonderful mother, I am blessed to have found her - she rides great too!

@BeasFamilyFarms Congrats on your Easter babies!! My son shows swine and his pig last year was named Snoop Hogg

@ParkedOut1 I LOVE the creativity on that - it’s priceless!

My mare is at 331 days today but she doesn’t have much of a bag started. I did get to feel the foal moving around this evening. I put my hand on her belly and it gave a little kick which prompted my mare to walk off in annoyance.

I had one born on Easter Sunday. The registry he’s in it was the ‘I’: naming year so I named him iCruz. (lower case i in front). Cruz for cross.

 that made me giggle… mine stops eating and cranes her neck around to look at me quizzically whenever i put my hand on her flanks or belly.

Mine is at 320 today!! Safe day, woohoo! She didn’t finish her dinner last night and didn’t finish her breakfast this morning - this usually happens when she’s about 7-10 days out. Gettin’ close!! :star_struck:

Hop had a cracking filly born this morning. She’s 145 lbs and looks like such an athlete. We need name ideas! Speightsong x Dream Hopper (Reward the Cat).

Congratulations @Arzny! I love a chestnut filly.

This is our second chestnut in a row from this mare - they’re honestly growing on me. Chestnuts totally outnumber every other color at our farm!

We almost always get bays. We had our first chestnut (a colt) in 6 six years this year.

My name pick (haven’t checked JC to see if it’s available): Singalong

The Easter basket was filled with a beautiful filly this year! They originally thought it was a colt, but we found out the following morning (we’re in the US and the horses are all in the Netherlands so we’re on a 6 hour time difference) it’s a filly. Absolutely thrilled because this is the mare’s first foal, so we’ve got total control over the line to ensure it’s not over-produced.
Stallion is Dominator 2000 Z

Mare is Mucinda (this is Mucinda in the photos also - no surrogate for this breeding)

And the beautiful queen momma all glammed up :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Two more to go for our season!

What a beauty!
Congratulations!

My suggestions are:
Song Royalties (reward for a song)
and
Tap Dance (speight refers to woodpecker and it also connects to hop)
