I missed it!

How many bidders in total?

The mobile version does not show the bid war, just the winning bid amount. Can you see the bids on the desktop version?

No, they disappeared shortly after the auction ended. It was mostly Slyfox going back and forth with the John person who won and another person with Gait in their name.

Equine Express.

I’ve known several customers who were very happy. I’ve had the privilege of watching them work a few times. They were so patient and kind with the horses. And they have a good stopover facility that I’ve visited in Denton, TX for horses that stay for a short period before getting on another truck.

I take it that bidding is anonymous, and we (g) will not know who bought Falcon and what kind of home he is going to. I continue to hold the thought that this will be a good transition for him.

I wonder why he didn’t have Pete in the same auction, as it seems he still owns Pete and would like to sell him. I wonder if the auction requires their approvals for certain reserve price ranges. To protect themselves from handling sales that will never happen due to totally unrealistic reserves. Just guessing, no real knowledge. It would explain why Pete wasn’t in the auction, though, if Mushbrain would not put a realistic reserve for him.

But it is interesting that Mush did agree to see Falcon on his way for a $5k reserve, quite a change from his previous $60k demand. Wonder what the backstory details are on that. Maybe he doesn’t 100% own Falcon and a secret co-owner made some demands. Another random wild guess with not one fact to support it.

$9,600 is a very good price for Falcon, IMO, considering his recent history and possible related but still undetected health issues. Hopefully he is going somewhere that can afford to give him whatever he needs.

I checked them out online and it doesn’t make sense to me to go from Montana to Texas and then back north to NY.

If you are talking about the standard practices involved in shipping horses across country, compare with the other carriers as well.

Equine Express bases and hubs out of Denton, TX, north of Dallas-Ft Worth, because it is very close to east-west I-20 and north-south I-35, an efficient location for transshipment.

For you and me taking our horse trailer from Montana to NY, we would take the most direct good route across the northern states, of course.

For any shipper using trucks/trailers that accommodate a number of horses, with a consignment of one or two horses going Montana > NY and other consignments for many other horses traveling on different routes to and from different locations, it is standard to gather the horses in a central location, and then complete the trip with a full load of horses bound for NY.

If the shipping company has a full load and appropriate availability to take horses direct Montana > NY, they may do that. I do know of a load that went straight from VA to Colorado as there were enough horses for a full truck.

Horse shippers use a similar transshipment model to any other cross-country goods transport. I’m sure they will share their probable routing with prospective customers with specific inquiries.

The quality of their accommodations for horses at their hub of course matters a good deal. That’s why I visited the Equine Express hub in Denton, as I was living close enough to be able to see it before a friend shipped a horse from Virginia to California. That was several years ago, but I was impressed by the deep clean bedding in the stalls and the abundance of full hay nets. The stalled horses were calmly interested in their hay and surroundings. I saw horses being unloaded and loaded in trucks, and it was done patiently. Some of the horses seemed obviously new to the process but they were not upset. It was the same for both of my two visits to that location.

That’s why I recommend Equine Express, because of the chance I had to see their hub operations, as well as good reports from several people I know who have used them.

I was going to post similar information. It is not practical to ship one horse cross country. They make routes and pick up/drop horses off en route. The big moving companies (i.e. Mayflower) do the same thing.

I can recommend Twin Palms Custom Horse Transport. Kevin plans his trips a month out. I know he will be doing a of shipping out of Montana during Rebecca Farm HT, but that is in July.

There was chatter a few months ago that explained that there is no bill of sale for Pete and he can’t prove ownership.

Cereal spent the night at a livestock auction property in Tx before crossing the state lines and the next day he had Pete. No one knows if he was given to Cereal or if he bought him. That is also one of the reasons he got in touble when he crossed state lines from ID/MT to WA. No proof of ownership.

He can only private sell Pete or give him away.

Run-Amok Equine Transportation. His guys should be making a lot of West and East runs soon as Winter Show Series get going. He’s got trucks going everywhere, great layover facilities, and takes amazing care of the horses.

Oh another note, it looks like Shiok is going to GA.

I find it interesting that only
7 bidders for Falcon. I would have throught more bidders would have been trying.
you know; due to Cereal’s large SM following.

and on a totally other note, I know White Sun’s Lyrical Fire that is for sale on that site too.

Since he will soon have money from the auction, this might be a good time for anyone that he owes money to re horse care to hurry and file a lawsuit for the amount owed.

:joy::rofl::sweat_smile::laughing:
That would require :poop:4:brain:s to have a milligram of Honesty/Integrity :unamused:
I would bet good money she won’t see a single penny from the sale.

I’m trying to convince myself the Buyer in GA will be a good home for Falcon :four_leaf_clover::crossed_fingers:
& that Pete gets a soft landing too.

I hope the FB groups can provide more info.
Off to see

ETA:
No more info on FB
 Yet.
But there is a poster from GA who is willing to put eyes on Falcon if location can be determined :crossed_fingers:

I just sent a message to the person taking care of Falcon asking if she knows anything about where Pete ended up. I’m sure Cereal won’t divulge that information unless he was paid first.

If Cereal doesn’t have proof of ownership, can he actually sell Pete and can any new “owner” legally transport, get brand inspection, or the like? Can he even “donate” to a registered organization/charity?

:crossed_fingers:I’d assume a rescue (reputable!) might take Pete w/o proof of ownership.
As a surrender by present caretaker, considering the circumstances?
Absentee “owner” (no proof of ownership), in a different state, prior abuse (documented on SM) etc.
Though likely not pay Cereal - or her - for him.
Hoping @Spudsmyguy gets a reply.

Ooh, “surrender by present caretaker,” not by Cereal. :crossed_fingers:

Someone said they’d texted Cerial and he wanted $6K for Pete. But I hope you find he’s in a safe place. I can’t imagine anyone will pay that much for him. And yet, I thought Falcon would have gone for less.

That was me that texted him.
