He’s still looking for a room mate? Can’t say I’m surprised that no sane person wants to live under the same roof as him.
Agree on the possibility/ likelihood of poor Pete just being abandoned by Mr. Cereal. That was kind of Pete’s position when Cereal picked him up, apparently.
If someone with the time and the wherewithal could go up to that area and start asking around, I am sure they would find Pete. And make a deal to get him out of there and to a warmer winter. That’s not me, unfortunately, or I’d be up there. Pete has to be known to at least some people around there who would have heard the drama through the grapevine. This guy seems to become known to at least some of the locals, wherever he goes. Horse people do share stories about oddball interactions about horses.
People know where he is. On the FB Stop Cyril group, there is a local that posts on there. She drove past where they were the other day and reported she could see them in the distance. They are at some lady’s house named Jo or something and everyone (thats up there) is afraid to approach her for some reason. Like they are afraid to spook her or something. Its odd.
My guess is “Jo” has been fed some line of BS by Asshat.
His SM blocking & calling out dissenters would make me believe he’s made himself the Poor, Put-Upon hero of his own story & Jo fell for that version hook, line & sinker.
The 2 are very likely in contact, evidenced by the vid of Falcon loading on the trailer.
Since Dumbo still thinks he can sell Pete - either privately, or to a Rescue - he’s likely told her that anyone interested in the horse not through him s/b shunned.
Since it’s highly unlikely anyone will offer the $6K asking price & Rescues normally don’t pay private surrenders, my 2¢ says he’ll end up abandoning Pete to her care.
Then maybe someone local from the FB group can get him.

The Grift that keeps on Grifting
Good, likely sequence of events there. My only fear is how long it could take. Will “Jo” or whoever’s got Pete now just give up on the whole thing? It’s been 5 months since Majikal Quest ended; I assume Cornflakey has been going on about how much money the horses will sell for all this time. Falcon finally went, but for $9k instead of $60. It’s probably pretty clear that lame, aged Pete is not valuable just as a horse, and the Majikal-ness doesn’t seem to have rubbed off on him all that much. And this is winter now, no more free grass to eat, and it’s a $#!+ty time to sell horses in general.
Will, ahem, other arrangements be made surreptitiously for Pete?
Maybe Jo will figure out she’s been duped & do a lien-type sale herself?
Cornflakey
That would be good! Or maybe someone – neighbor, son-in-law, the feed store guy, whom she’s gotta be getting to know pretty darned well – will convince/show her that she cannot afford to keep this horse who eats like a, well, horse.
Or maybe Pete needs the vet for something or other, and Jo says to just send the bill to Cereal. The vet snorts and says, “that deadbeat?”
Guess it’s a little too late to be worried about Pete. With these severe subzero temperatures here’s hoping that whoever has him is taking special care of him, or else he’s frozen to death in some pasture. Hoping that whoever is close by and knows where he is has been checking up on him.
If anybody is still interested in him, now might be the time to make a non-negotiable low offer.
Fingers crossed that he is okay.
There is someone on the Facebook thread who lives near enough to put eyes on him. I believe he’s somewhere near Missoula, and yes, they’ve been hit with bitter cold temperatures. I hope someone finds a way to help Pete.
Getting towards Spring now. Have been thinking about Ol’ Pete and wonder if anybody’s heard anything. Did he survive the winter? Did somebody appear and buy him? Can’t stop wondering about him, especially since Bouvier (sp?) is right across the border.
I saw a post on Facebook where he’s for sale. No video and no test ride per Cyril. Naturally, I cannot recall where on FB I saw the post.
I’d been wondering about Pete, too. Poor thing is another year older and apparently still belongs to that nincompoop. At least they’re separated by a lot of miles.
Of course it figures there’s no video. But how does Cereal envision someone buying Pete without a video or a trial ride?
Asking price? If anyone knows.
I hope Falcon is doing well.
He won’t state an asking price and that he’d consider donating him to a non-profit (which I thought he’d said before, so I’m surprised one hasn’t stepped up… or I’m concerned about what he’s requiring from the NP).
He also said he was still located in MT, so Pete made it through heavy Winter.
He posted on instagram stories all this with an ASK box a few days ago.
However, I haven’t heard much since.
ETA: a snip of one of his stories shared in a FB group
Thanks for sharing this.
Great sales technique: refusing to give a price on something you are selling. Poor Pete.
Plus “will post pictures when I get them”.
IMO, what a loaded phrase. From who? What’s the relationship like with that person? Interpreting that Pete is nowhere near where he’s living, so he’s dependent on someone in MT.
Does anyone know of a rescue who might be interested in him–preferably close by. I think that he really deserves a super soft landing, considering what he went through last year. Would be willing to contribute a dribble toward expenses if anyone wants to take him.
Who’s the Clever Cowgirl? She’s not far away, Montana-wise. There are several rescues in the area, search for Missoula. Washington isn’t out of the question either and seems to have a different horse vibe. I’ve been all over the local craigslist and FB pages all spring and haven’t seen him but that doesn’t surprise me since Knucklehead seems to not really have a feel for local advertising. I’m not opposed to making a few calls this week and see if there is any local rescue interest. I’m about 5 hours away from where Pete is supposed to be.
