& The reason for “no pics” : Asshat is back in TX(?), Goodheart in MT & most likely not in on the deal.
That way 4​:brain: can lie about whatever price he gets & not share proceeds.

I’d start lower. Be blunt and state that you have to pay for transport. He can always counter offer.

Good idea. $500 take it or leave it. I need to research reputable retirement facilities until I can bring him home. Anyone know of any in my area or have a name I can call? Bennington, VT/Hoosick Falls, NY?

Unlike real estate, I can’t see what horses are actually selling for in Montana but if you look on Montana Horses on FB or check CL you’ll see that our asking prices are still quite high. I have no clue if that matters to him but someone might get in his ear now that grass is growing. Hard to say what Pete looks like right now and how he would check out with a vet but $500 is canner prices at best. By all means give it a shot and I sure hope it works!

I suspect there is going to be issue of horsemans lien . I cannot imagine someone taking care of this horse for nothing. I bet his feet have not been done, etc I would be willing to road trip to do an inspection paired with @OnAMission.

I’m cool with going to see him for sure; my husband is a farrier too so good foot eyeballs. Pete could hang out here this summer too as far as I’m concerned but will run it past DH. I don’t need to be FB famous but Coth famous is I think ok.

ETA I kind of think the hay bill is included in the price that he is sitting back waiting to hear. I suspect his thoughts are I owe 1K in hay and want some for him being famous… ugh. If someone makes contact to at least read where he’s at then we know.

Suggest don’t use the word ‘inspection’ before or during the trip but I know y’all had already decided on that.

Maybe try this: You are determining how much of a premium you’ll be ready to pay once you get a look at how Pete is doing.

But then you have to go back home and think about it, of course.

Offers always pack more of a punch if the trailer is with us. If we drive that far we’re bringing the trailer at the very least to game it. We’ve never done a vet check or anything like that, I always see the horse and know what I want to do but of course this is all a little extra. lol

I wonder what he would charge to just lay eyes on Pete… I imagine he’s pretty flightly about it? I don’t have contact info for him or I’d play the game if/when Spuds does hers. Trials here in MT are unheard of, that doesn’t surprise me. I just wonder if he wants to see cash before seeing the horse.

If the town is accurate, even if Pete is 20 miles out of town, betcha someone hanging around the grocery store or the bars knows about Pete and can tell you where he is. Hopefully one or both of you is a ‘super-communicator’ to elicit this information.
