I bet he’d love a light ride. That horse is so darned kind and forgiving. I will never forget when his pimp did not even undo his cinch when he collapsed in pain.

And then hit him with a stick to force him to move.

Edited to add: I’m researching boarding farms near me right now.

Remember the Power of the COTH Dribble!
If you can get Pete out of Cereal’s clutches, count me in to help with transport :purse:

Pete does look far better than I expected. Amazing what having access to normal amounts of feed and not being forced to trudge across the countryside packing an idiot’s load of crap can do in a few months.

I’d think Pete would be find for some leisurely walkabouts.

I don’t want to get too excited because there’s no telling if he’ll accept what I’m willing to pay.

Holy moly! Chunky munky now! I can’t believe that’s Pete - he looks much better. I’d be in for a dribble too, to see him out of the clutches of that imbecile.

This is true. But who knows if anyone has made him any offer? You’ll never know until you try and see how Nimrod responds. You know the old saying: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

(See what an enabler I am?)

Anyone still have his contact info? Pete looks cute as heck under tack. He’s got a decent shoulder, short, strong back, nice hip and a set of stout legs with good bone. Not to mention his adorable face and kissable nose.

Here is his LinkedIn account: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cyrilbertheau/ There is a message feature on linkedin.

I think he mainly uses Instagram. I am blocked so I can’t help with that.

This is the number that was posted on the auction page, saying it’s his number: 786-672-7666

So if anyone’s interested in making an offer, do they DM him through Instagram?

That seems to be his preferred means of communication and “selling”. As that’s the only place he’s advertising.

My newsfeed gifted me this today.
Refreshing to see how the Polar Opposite of Cereal does things :smirk:

I’ll bet if you rolled up with a trailer and cash, the BO might just find Pete died of old age…

There is a photo further down with a better look at everything, from the front.

Looks like a regular Tractor Supply haul-behind trailer, for moving stuff. With a platform attached to it, that has basic plywood for walls. Tarp roof. PVC pipe to fly the flags. Rigged up gear to allow the horse to pull (push, as the article explains).

Am I seeing correctly that the horse appears to be barefoot? Looks like a modified bell boot configuration to protect the back of the horse’s pasterns and fetlock. (Lower photo, not the ‘cover’ display photo.)

At 15 miles per day, the horse is probably working for 4 to 5 hours out of 24, and I’ll guess not continuously. If the work isn’t stressful (it doesn’t look like it) that is very reasonable for a fit horse in a working age range. Guessing they have rest days periodically, although that is a rate that might be sustainable without very many off days.

From checking out his Youtube vids it appears he’s used several different horses on his travels, at one point a team. A team of 4!

If you really zoom in on that picture it looks like he is using some kind of easyboot instead of shoes. The part around the fetlock is the gaiter that helps keep the boot on also I think there is a clip on the front of the hooves as well so he might be using these:

Easyboot Epic (easycareinc.com)

This would actually make more sense for him as he could do his own trimming as needed, the easyboots can be replaced easily and the rubber soles provide better traction on pavement than plain shoes and shoeing with borium or caulks is $$$.

There was a cross country guy with a horse drawn cart that was hit on a rural highway in the South. The horses were put down. Accidents happen. Weather happens. Many drivers will not respond well to the unexpected.

Long distance riding trails exist. Greenways, portions of original migration routes, state forest etc…. These are much safer but don’t have as any begging opportunities. I really would prefer, for the horse’s sake, more safety and less begging on long rides. For that reason, I would not donate to anyone doing this on public roads.

The Amish get hit often enough and they stay in their communities with signage and warnings.
