Oh geez, now Dad is joining this circus. Is this some weird familial rite of passage, filled with symbolism? Or is Cereal using his Dad in hopes of adding some authenticity to this mess?

The cynic in me thinks itā€™s mostly the former. The timing is interesting. Heā€™ll have Dad by his side as the two ride into Washington. But at least itā€™ll be over.

Until the horses meet whatever fate awaits them.

The state Pete is in, highly unlikely heā€™ll make it that far. Falcon is also on the Endangered list.
Iā€™m assuming the trailer driver will be carrying the packs that poor horse has been burdened with?
What a farce the Quest has become :unamused:

Oh, I agree that poor Pete is on his last legs and Falcon is clearly struggling, too.

I just figure thereā€™s going to be a lot of trailering of horses behind the scenes, interspersed with photo ops of Dad and Son, up to the glorious consummation of this debacle. Wouldnā€™t surprise me, either, if Dad was contributing some financial aid in order to bring his sonā€™s wandering to a conclusion.

Old recorded videos heā€™s just posting from 5/30 of Falcon trying to give up climbing a ridge.
He knows heā€™s doing wrong, which is why heā€™s staying off the road, and its puting his horses in even worse situations because heā€™s trying to follow some BLM and hiking trails.

It sickens me. I rode with Red Rock Hounds for a long time in my youth and have crazy stories of harrowing climbs and adventures, but I had prepared horses. Watching him climb, when you can clearly see an access road (to the very towers he was pointing to) through rocks and steeper terrain for video, while his horses struggled, then to celebrate like he just rode his horse up Everest, saying ā€œIā€™m the bestā€ makes me gag.

Yeah he sure is killing it isnā€™t he.

Nice language. I wonder if he is capable of a full sentence.

Such an effen yahoo.

There are so many edits here I canā€™t tell where he goes or what happens or where he ends up. I expect he just walks off the trail a few steps to get some photos. Does he even get to the ridge? Itā€™s a nothing as far as trail riding.

Here is what Cereal thinks he is doing.

Meanwhile he posts a photo on IG of his poor horse tangled up in a Highline round his front leg and says whatā€™s your morning routine? Well, itā€™s not rescuing my horse from a potentially life-threatening over night tangle.

What a freakinā€™ numb nut. Did anyone actually teach him how to do a proper highline or picket line, or did he just watch a YouTube video?

That ascent of that ridgeline was not that remarkable except for the fact that he didnā€™t know what he was doing. He nearly got both his horses badly injured, and himself almost killed, by allowing Pete to wrap his long lead rope around Falcon until they were all tangled up. If Pete had bolted off or Falcon had panicked, it wouldā€™ve been a disaster. And then he curses and blames Pete. He is such a fool.

How are those horses shod for that rocky terrain? He didnā€™t seem to pay any attention to the path his horses were traveling.

Also Iā€™m guessing that Peteā€™s colic was shortly after this.

See, that makes a case for tying up. Minimal feed and forage while on the road, then, while resting, 12 pounds of grain and adequate forage. Then, on day 6, through a lot of weight on him and tow him down the road? Could well be tying up.

This manā€™s total indifference to the horses and their care is demonstrated over and over again ā€“ through his own words, as well as his actions!

I do hope that some documentarian sees this for what it really is. And does make the whole story a documentary case study for the lengths that a self-promoter will go to in an attempt to be noticed and remembered. Especially the astonishing level of blindness to the misuse of animals, while attempting to portray oneself as an exceptional person.

If he were riding a motorcycle or dirt bike on this trip, he would have to be more attentive to proper fuel and ongoing maintenance to keep it going. Treat a machine this way and he would be broken down on the roadside.

Horses are way too giving and good to people who misuse and abuse them. Until they are truly broken, physically and mentally, and literally canā€™t take another step. Horses keep trying ā€“ I wish they wouldnā€™t!

Peteā€™s colic happened when Asshat took a woman he picked up to take her ā€œtrailridingā€.
She was as horse ignorant as he is, but at least had the presence of mind to suggest a vet was needed.

Am I wrong to hope one of the horses falls on him!.
The shape theyā€™re in & the terrain heā€™s choosing makes this a possibility :crossed_fingers:
At least he might cushion the fall & hopefully injure this fuckstick so he couldnā€™t finish his ā€œquestā€ :imp:

Something may be happening today, going by the latest posts.

A note that she puts the posting date on her posts, but will note that her last few posts have had very incorrect dates on them. Until this week the dates seemed to be accurate.

Apologies for my Geographic Ignorance :smirk:

No biggie. God knows what his route has really been.

That Western saddle at the picnic site scares me. I hope that was not used for old Peteā€™s trail ride.

Part of me cannot believe he went north towards rougher country

Then again, the other part of me does believe it and he is going to glory-seek at Yellowstone

here is a link to the rules for Yellowstone. No overnights permitted

If he actually gets to Yellowstone things are going to stop being fun for him right away, there are much different rules/regs there and he will catch a fine every time he turns around I suspect. I kind of figured Yellowstone would be too tempting for him to pass up. Also, Yellowstone is federal, not state. Bigger stakes.

I hope the seize the horses today. Seized horses in ID/MT do very well, especially ones with a media following. They will go to a rescue or be cared for by knowledgable entities then rehomed when cleared.
