As someone who is concerned when horss spook on asphalt, concrete or hard packed gravel about slippingā€¦ I cannot imaging ā€œrunningā€ a horse on pavement without appropriate farrier work. Also, an hour?? Am I to understand one horse has some shoes but not two or all four? That horse, if itā€™s being worked on pavement of any kind, needs borium. And it probably needs shoes.

This whole saga is depressing and confusing and I hope it ends soon, with good outcomes for the horses.

ETA: everything about this is horrific, but I am trying to wrap my head around the shoe situation.

Re: having to ā€œbeat Peteā€ to make him walkā€¦
I think this is such an indictment on our animal welfare system. If this is true, then we truly have no standards. I understand that horses are livestock and livestock is property in the eyes of the law, but this is beyond the pale. People who make laws that render law enforcement or others unable to step in when situations like this arise should be voted out of office. Disgusting.

Sheā€™s what I call a ā€œClick horeā€. Sheā€™s noticed that people are following this story, so there are clicks to be had if she chimes in.

Whoā€™s that guy with the ā€œthinks like a horseā€ videos? He used to pounce on bad handling, but havenā€™t seen much from him lately. Sometimes he was right and other times he was off or too personal. Although it did seem like he preferred to go after women that with poor horse handling skills.

Between him and Raleigh, his videos were a bit easier to watch because she really likes being on the camera making faces.

I donā€™t follow any of them. If their videos show up on my feed, I might fast forward to the spots of interest.

Rick Gore? I think he uses his YT platform just to spout his misogynism. He and Post Toastie would get along fine.

I canā€™t believe Honey Bunches of Cr*p still hasnā€™t been Kix out of the country for his behavior. How many followers does he have? I hope someone Smacks him hard enough to rearrange his Pebbles so he does a Total re-evaluation of his ā€œquestā€.

Itā€™s just heartbreaking to consider but I think one of the horses will collapse with him.

Meanwhile I spent much of the morning watching the Tevis entrants cross the finish line. A lot of those horses look as fresh as colts on a spring day, even the German riding pony who is most definitely not bred for LD.

So did I. The difference between the Tevis horses and what he has done with Pete and Falcon is ā€“ Well Iā€™ll shut up now.

There were a few who balked at entering the stadium, but I think that was more about the change in lighting than anything else.

Edit to add: I think they should start a pony division with appropriate awards for the little guys!

Pete tied up a few weeks ago. He thought it was colic. Cereal and some girl were out riding and he went down twice. He posted it, with over voice narration saying ā€œdonā€™t worry pete I will save youā€ something like that.

The rider from Polandā€™s horse was balking at the signage but others gave him a lead. There often are a few ponies but a division would be tough because so many of the Arabs and Mustangs are under 14.2.

It is inspiring to see a horse who is on the last 10 miles of Tevis volunteer a brisk canter to the finish. If no competition is too close, itā€™s the rider who is saying ā€˜go easy buddyā€™.

I calculated once ā€“ the average pace throughout the ride of some of the top finishers comes out to about 15 mph, equivalent to an ordinary canter. For the full 100 miles, counting the terrain. Of course I realize that Tevis endurance horses move differently and cover far more ground trotting than most horses. But it is a testament to having the right horse for the job, and knowing how to condition and care for them.

I love seeing the horses leave the last stop ears up, springy elevated trot when they want to canter, anxious to go go go, with the rider trying to convince them to save themselves a bit, without starting a fight with their horse. LOL

Iā€™m so glad you mentioned Tevis! How great would clips of that be, alongside Bozoā€™s own clips of his abused horses.

Thanks, that laugh was needed after my morning visit to the Stop Cer**l FB page.
Opinion is heā€™ll trailer near enough to Spokane to ride in.
Ass-uming (highly appropriate in his case) either horse can even walk after being trailered as footsore as both are reported to be.
No mention (yet) of the required visit to a vet to verify they are rideable, as citation forbid him from riding until that was done.
Any bets as to any vet seeing the horses?
I didnā€™t think soā€¦ :unamused:
BUT:
There was mention of him still reviewing his Sale/Lease inquiries.
Again, I call on COTH to bury him under bogus requests :trumpet::pirate_flag:
Maybe his teeny head will explode? :exploding_head:

ETA:
I worked the vet check as a volunteer for a CDE Marathon.
The horses - notably the Fjords - came off course looking like theyā€™d been on a leisurely trailride, instead of miles of Timed Obstacles :open_mouth:

The mare stareā€™s 7/29 update says that itā€™s ā€œverified that he went to the vet yesterday,ā€ meaning Friday, I assume. She says that she assumed itā€™s for paperwork and to get ā€œclearanceā€ to ride, not for diagnosis and/or treatment, although sheā€™s assuming injections, bute, etc. are occurring, and warns potential buyers to get x-rays and blood tests as part of PPE.

Nice to see that heā€™s actually complying with the LE/AC orders. To the absolute least degree possible, Iā€™m sure, but complying, with actual veterinary intervention, if sheā€™s correct.

Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs will soon be back, I fear, with horses given the Special oK.

 Can I hope whatever vet he used at least told him horses arenā€™t in any condition to be so much as handwalked into Spokane?
Not that heā€™d hear thatā€¦

I assume any vet worth their Epsom salt would tell him that, but isnā€™t this going to be a repeat of the veterinary episode near the beginning of this ride (San Angelo, Texas?) where he was told that Falcon wasnā€™t fit to do the ride, but headed off anyway?

Alas, I guess that the absolute best we can expect is that horses will be trailered to a spot very near the Finish Line or, better yet, the horses will turn out to be entirely too much trouble and a Triumphant Finish is cobbled together from existing video with additional poses from him and, perhaps, a Chariots of Fire or Star Wars soundtrack. After all, that recent LE trouble was apparently in Coeur dā€™Alene, Idaho, which is so close to Spokane. Maybe he even got a foot over the state line into Washington, making the finish technically correct. Or a tire over the line. Who knows.

I agree; Falcon and Pete have become burdens and he will dispose of them as soon as he can.

Yup. Now that theyā€™re both used up, sore and exhibiting obvious signs of whatever underlying issues they once had smoldering under the surface (I think of poor old Pete whoā€™d been more or less ā€œretiredā€ when Fruit Loops got him), heā€™s going to unload them. Sure, maybe theyā€™ll be sold. But I will never accept that someone paid anywhere close to $60K for the pair.
