Yes, the_mare_stare said it was an 80-year-old woman in (Stephensville?) Montana who was keeping them. Little chance of either selling at Asshat’s price or him reclaiming (and, you know paying board, care, feed or whatnot) the horses, so seems like a pretty permanent type situation.
Although both 5. and 6. of MunchingonHay’s characteristics seem to apply, I’m pretty sure she thought it was a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry temporary “save dashing poor young thing and, by the way, his horses” situation, the reality is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry different.
And my guess: not “savvy horse person” at all, just someone who happened to have a fenced area on her property, next door, or whatever, as is pretty common in that part of the country. And winter looms…
