If you enlarge the photo & focus on the stifle, there’s a raw wound.
Oops, Asshat! Perhaps not a pic you post to show how well you cared for your legendary companion :unamused:

The current photos do not show a horse as one that is prepped and ready to attract the highest bidders at auction. He looks more like one just pulled from the trail line, or from a few months at pasture – which of course is where he has been.

The photos are just someone going out to the pen to get a photo to post. There is no effort at presentation. Just a side photo and a front head photo, wherever the horse happens to be standing, whatever is in the background.

Tell me that horse is not living in that pen. Where is a windbreak and shelter? But I can’t think of another reason for him to be there.

So this is an ongoing online auction – sorry I didn’t register when it begins?

Will there be public posting of bids, so bidders know what they have to outbid? You know, ebay style?

FB info has auction started at 11:15A CST, today.
Runs through 1/2/24.

Can’t be an injury, his ad says "Shiok was ridden 1500mi under saddle, injury and sickness free, "…

I almost spit out my drink

His nose must be about a yard long by now.

Bidding is off at a snail’s pace.
So far a single bid @ the $3500 start, placed @ 1:04P (EST?) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Hoping bidder is the FB bunch.
They’re saying original owner wants the horse back & they’re trying to organize to make that happen.

Compared to other horses now on the Live Auction, poor Falcon isn’t going to bring $$$.

ETA:
Any COTHer with an untraceable ph# that can call Cereal to harass… ER, I mean ask for info?

You can get a Google phone number for free . . .

I agree that Falcon is standing strangely in the photo. The kind of stance that would make me concerned if it were my horse. He looks like a horse that’s done nothing since the ride ended. While better than being frogmarched cross country, he doesn’t look like he’s gotten any supportive care.

Someone could set up a generic email account and register a Google Voice number.

Beyond my paygrade as a Bordering on Technophobe Sr.
But if someone did, would the phone # be usable by anyone besides creator?
If so, I’d gladly Spamcall him all day :smiling_imp:

That’s the thing that indicates how detached from reality, especially horse reality, his current owner is. He has done nothing to prepare and present this horse for sale to a buyer willing to pay a premium – a very high premium. And now he has the horse in a marketplace with other horses to choose from. But those bucks are coming, for sure! :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The guy lives completely inside his own head, it would seem. Just as he didn’t see a problem explaining away his sudden abandonment of this epic ride to drive/trailer across Colorado. And pick it up in Wyoming. No problem.

Because what adventurer wouldn’t rather drive across in one day, including pauses for snacks & toilets, instead of spending weeks working his way on horseback through a heavily fenced and problematic landscape. With no plan or adequate preparation.

Has anyone check his ride-mileage and ride-day numbers to include only actual saddle time? I don’t have the energy.

Speaking of the vet report… Did anyone else see that he’s a 5/9 on the vet report?
Even though hes been standing around & eating he’s still only a 5/9.
I immediately thought looking at the new pictures that he needed weight still.

I agree. His spine looks a bit prominent

He likely has been fed mostly (if not entirely) on hay and he hasn’t been using his body so he’s also way undermuscled. In fact, his current condition is especially pathetic when compared to the other horses on that site.

I am willing to bet that RF heel / fetlock / suspensory will not vet clean. In the mounted picture he also does to stand fair on the RF it appears offloaded to the outside. Ringbone?

Someone has bid $3,500. The page says “reserve has not been met”.

Yes. To me it’s not a 5/9 because the horse is super fit from regular work, either.

And while @hoopoe has a good point about the vet’s remark concerning the eye, why wouldn’t the vet at least have the horse jogged to be sure it’s not lame? Why only observe it at the walk? Was it because Falcon was confined in that corral, and a walk was the best the vet could get?

Didn’t Cereal once say something about the people who wanted to save Falcon-- his online haters-- that they’d have to put their money where their mouth was in order to get him?

He may have put a ridiculous reserve on that horse, thinking that passionate horse lovers will shell out a small fortune to “save” Falcon.

I hope that doesn’t happen.

If the reserve isn’t met he can just take what was offered or leave it.

I don’t think giving him free advertising on COTH is such a good idea.

I just watched the video he linked to his auction slot. Oh dear lord. It’s hard to choose which was the most cringe inducing segment. That guy is even more of an ass than I previously thought.

The mere fact that Falcon survived intact is a minor miracle. Heck, if I could justify another horse, I’d bid on him just because he’s been through hell with that IDIOT and survived.
